Amosun Presents 16 Modern Houses to Villagers whose houses were Demolished

Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, on Tuesday, made good his pledge to villagers whose houses had to make way for the President Muhammadu Buhari, PMB Estate in the Kobape area of Abeokuta by presenting them with modern houses built by the state government.
Beneficiaries of the newly built modern houses are previous residents of about 8 villages whose lands were taken for the construction of the PMB Estate in Kobape.
To compensate them, Governor Amosun had promised to replace their mud houses with modern houses fitted with modern accessories.
This promise was redeemed on Tuesday when the governor handed over 16 of those modern houses to their owners who were previously living in Itoku-Elewe village, while adding that more houses are still to going to be constructed for those who couldn’t secure one at this time.
While presenting the houses, the Ogun State Governor thanked the villagers for trusting him to deliver on his promises and willingly releasing their land for the development of the PMB Estate.
Governor Amosun told his audience, which includes the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Aremu Gbadebo and the Olowu of Owu, Oba Adegboyega Dosunmu, that his administration would never take the support of the people for granted.
Amosun said, “today’s event is a fulfillment of a pledge I earlier made to the villagers. I know what land is to our people. So when I spoke with the villagers and their leaders and they willingly released their land, I was humbled.
“And you will remember that I promised to construct new houses for the villagers. In all, eight villages are involved. And we said we would construct 96 houses. Today, we have delivered 16. We are not stopping until we fulfill our promises.”
The governor added that the new houses would enjoy all the modern facilities, including constant power supply and water that would be available for residents of the President Muhammadu Buhari Estate.
The Ogun State Commissioner for Housing, Arc. Segun Abiodun, in her welcome address expressed delight with the occasion stressing that it was indeed a watershed in the history of the PMB Estate project.
The Alake of Egbaland, Oba Gbadebo and the Olowu of Owu, Oba Dosunmu, in separate goodwill messages delivered at the event, expressed delight with the project and hailed the Ogun State governor for living up to his words
