74,016 passengers travelled through Ilorin Airport in 2016 - FAAN

A total of 74,016 passengers travelled through the Ilorin International Airport in 2016, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, has disclosed.

Also, a total number of 2,142 aircraft movements were recorded from January to December, 2016 at the Airport.

FAAN in a release by its Operations Unit stated that the number of the passengers, who flown through the Airport in 2016, was above the 2015 statistics which stood at 66,000 while the aircraft movement was below the same year with a total of 2,812 moments.

The records shown that more passengers travelled through the Airport than the aircraft landing via Ilorin route during the year under review.

Analysing the release, the Ilorin Airport Manager, Alhaji Ibrahim AbdulAzeez, explained that in August, 2016, 7,850 passengers flown through the Airport, making it the highest, while December had the lowest turnout with 4,756 passengers.

He noted that the month of May recorded 242 as the highest and December, 158 as lowest number of aircraft movements in 2016.

AbdulAzeez attributed the low turnout of the aircraft at the Airport to JET A1 ,aviation fuel, scarcity in the country.

The Airport Manager, however, called on all stakeholders in the state to support the management towards achieving growth.
