OSUN WEST BY-ELECTION: Group Highlights Part To Credible Poll
As the people of Osun West Senatorial zone go to the poll on Saturday July 8th 2017 to exercise their franchise in determining the custodian of their mandate in the Senate, here are the do’s and don’s that must be adhered to by all, for a free, fair, transparent and credible election.
The conduct of a credible and transparent election is a collective exercise requiring the contributions of all stakeholders notably INEC, party agents, observers, security agents, electorates and the media.
Here are some guidelines that are critical to a smooth conduct of the 2017 Osun West Senatorial zone by-election as contained in a release signed by Nelson Ekujumi, Executive Chairman, Committee for the Protection of Peoples Mandate (CPPM
1. Accreditation and voting takes place simultaneously from 8am to 2pm at all polling stations and designated voting points.
2. Every voter must go to polling units with only their Permanent Voters Card (PVC).
3. The card reader machine will be deployed to authenticate the identity of voters.
4. The electoral law does not recognize and allow accreditation and voting by proxy, it is an electoral offence to do so, therefore, if you don’t have a PVC, stay away from polling centres in your own interest.
5. Campaign of any sort or bringing of a party banner or logo within a reasonable distance of the polling centres is prohibited.
6. After performing your civic responsibility of voting, every voter has the right to either stay peacefully and orderly to observe the process till the counting of votes and announcement of results, or go home.
7. Please observe decorum and civility within the voting centres for peace and order to reign.
8. Please respect and allow INEC officials to carry out their responsibility without fear or favour.
9. Please be a good ambassador of Osun West Senatorial zone and don’t be an instrument of disorder and violence.
