OPC Will Always Defend Yoruba Interest, Says Gani Adams As The Group Empowers Members
By Wale Abideen/ Cultism and ritual killings is fast becoming a thing of the past in Ikorodu and its environs following the prompt intervention of the Oodua People’s Congress, OPC in the surveillance of the ancient city. Otunba Gani Adams, the National Coordinator of OPC drops this hint on Tuesday at the OPC Leadership Retreat held in Lagos.
The OPC leader says that the success recorded at flushing out cultists in Ikorodu is a proof of the fact that OPC remains a potent force in the defense of Yoruba interest. He added that despite the group’s massive investment in promoting cultural tourism, security and interest of the Yoruba race remains a high priority of the group.

The OPC Leadership Training was organized by the Lagos Chapter of OPC and it was held in Agidigbi area of Ikeja, the capital city of Lagos.Otunba Adams said that OPC remains consistent in the defence of Yoruba interests, despite consistent assault from political forces within the zone.
He stated that the Yoruba nation should be rest assured that OPC will not abandon her, but that different times requires different strategists, but that the focus remains the same.
The Guest Speaker, Mr. Abiola Ayankunbi listed the attributes of a good leader, and that at every level, leadership is key to success.
Ayankunbi, the Managing Director of AbingMO3 Marketing Management Consultancy did justice to the topic titled: Effective Leadership Skills and Competencies as he harps on components of Leadership, Style of Leadership, What is Leadership?, Exceptions to Leadership, Leadership skills, Leadership qualities, Ways to develop Leadership qualities, Competencies, Causes of Leadership failure, Recruit of more members and others
Other speakers at the event also reflects on the ability of a leader as a yardstick that determine the success of a society. In his own view, Chief Femi Davies stress the need to utilize the social media as a tool of mobilization and information dissemination.
Akogun Kayode Balogun hinges on the protection and projection of the Yoruba language while Ambassador Wale Ojo Lanre spoke on the tourism potentials of the Congress. Mr.Tayo spoke on IT and its applications.
The retreat, which is held quarterly, is to ensure constant training for leaders of the congress at every level.
Wale Ojo Lanre of the Nigerian Tribune urges the members to always protect the good image of OPC and see themselves as ambassadors of the organization. The event turn out to be an educative cum cultural reorientation as OPC members were more determine to continually defends the territorial intergrity and cultural heritage of the Yoruba nation as the hall of the event filled to capacity with OPC members and well wishers from within and outside Lagos.
