How to boost agriculture productions with soft loans, by CBN
BY OLA SIMON/ Farmers in Kogi state have been told to explore various financial interventions provided by the Central Back of Nigeria to boost their production.
The Head Development of Agric of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Lokoja, Mr Sorungbe Folusho gave the advice while sensitising farmers on various financial interventions provided by the Central Bank to assist farmers at the palace of the Ohimege Igu of Koton Karfi, Alhaji Abdulrazak Isa Koto.
Mr Folusho said Nigeria is blessed with arable land for farming activities and advised the youths to depend less on civil service job.
He listed the interventions provided by the central bank to include micro finance, agriculture finance small and medium scale finance as well as the Anchor Borrower Scheme which the state is currently benefitting from.
He assured of a single digits interest rate and advised farmers to form cooperative societies to access the opportunity.
In a remark, the Administrator of the Council, Alhaji Mohammed Tanko thanked the representatives of the central bank for the sensitisation tour and advised farmers to explore the opportunity to increase their income.
He emphasized that the people of the area are noted for their impute in agricultural activities adding that the loan facilities, when fully utilized can put Koton Karfi on the world map of food production.
Also speaking, the Ohimege Igu of Koton Karfi, Alhaji Abdulrazak Isa Koto thanked the representative of the CBN for the visit noting that the land is good for rice, cassava and cocoa production.
He also appealed to the central bank to assist farmers to engage in dry season farming for multiple harvest annually.
