Kwara ANA celebrates Eid with special reading session, host President
By Rowland ’Shuwa ILORIN/ As Muslims in the country on Friday joined their counterpart around the world to mark this year’s Eid-el-Adha, members of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA), Kwara State Chapter were not left as the state chairman; Mallam Abdur-Rahman Aderinoye hosted his members to a special reading session on Sunday.
In commemoration of the Muslim festival, members of the association moved their monthly reading session from the usual venue at Knowledge Platform, Agba-dam area to their chairman’s residence in the spirit of the season.
Following his emergence and swearing in as the chairman of the association on April, 2nd, 2017 Mallam Abdur-Rahman Aderinoye had kept to his promise of taking Kwara ANA to a greater level and consolidating on the achievements of his predecessors.
Apart from the regular monthly reading which has improved tremendously due to innovations and creativity, the chairman also organized an executive retreat for the executives and other willing members of the association. The two day event came up on the 25th and 26th of August 2017.
The icing on the September reading session which was held at the chairman’s residence in the spirit of Eid Mubarak celebration last Sunday was the presence of the National President of the association, Mallam Denja Abdullahi and a former National Treasurer of the association, Joy Esuku.
Speaking with Security Monitor on the occasion, the national president expressed confidence in the capability of Kwara ANA and the quality of her membership. He gave kudos to the elders and leaders of the association in the state for their wisdom in fostering a formidable and friendly chapter devoid of ethnic and religious bigotry.
On his efforts as the national president, Abdullahi disclosed that has been planting every effort where necessary to see that ANA gains facelift worldwide. He explained that the imminent project at hand is the National Convention of the association which is scheduled from October 26-29 2017.
He also stated that the project of getting a book into the hands of every Nigerian child is a project that he has already started and books have been published to this effect.
Highlights of the Reading session include merriment with enough food especially ram meat, drinks and literary engagements among members.
Among those present on the occasion include, the immediate past chairman of the association, Colonel Oladele Babajamu; the General Secretary, Mr. Babayemi Opeyemi; the PRO, Mr Saliu Ahmad Toyin; Financial Secretary, Mr Obalugemo Folorunsho; Welfare Secretary, Mrs. Betty Ige; Tawio and Kehinde Oyewale, Abdulafeez and a host of other well meaning members.
The Kwara Chapter of ANA meets every first Sunday of the month at Knowledge Platform, Agba-dam area beside Justice Mustapha Akanbi residence, Ilorin by 5pm.
