NDLEA Takes anti Drug Campaign to Kogi as Gov. Bello Set up Vocational Centers

Youths in Kogi State have been called upon to avoid drug addiction and other act capable of destroying their future.

Governor Yahaya Bello made the call in Lokoja in a message he sent to the organizer of sensitization and awareness program on Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. The anti drug abuse show was organized by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency in collaboration with the state government.

The Governor who was represented by the Secretary to the  State Government, Mrs Ayoade Folashade said the state government would never condone the use of illicit drug and appealed to the citizens of the state to engage in meaningful venture rather than unproductive and live ravaging acts.

According to the state governor, the kogi state has put in skills acquisition centers across the three senatorial districts for empowerment schemes.

Governor Bello also urged parents to monitor the activities of their children noting that peers pressure and parental care play a significant role in character moulding of a child.

Earlier, the State Commandant of the  (NDLEA) Alhaji Idris Bello said the program was part of the line up of activities to mark the the United Nation’s Day against Drug abuse and Illicit Trafficking which was observed in various religion organization across the country.

The Commandant called on parents to always give attention to their wards to ascertain a healthy living.

He disclosed that the state Command has made remarkable progress in drug control through arrest and seizure of over three million kilograms of marijuana and other psychotropic substance.
