Asa Carnival: Commissioner, Chieftaincy Committee, Hail SOB Agunbiade

Last Wednesday, dated the 18th of October, 2017, was a day of unending encomium for the Majority Leader of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. SOB Agunbiade as the acting Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Hon. Adebimpe Akinsola and members of Ikorodu Division Chieftaincy Committee took turn to appreciate his efforts towards the reawakening of the cultural values and heritages of the people of the division.
The Commissioner pointed out that what SOB is doing with the forthcoming A?a carnival is in the best interest of the division. She added that by putting together IREP, Agunbiade has shown the way towards the reawakening of the cultural heritage of Ikorodu division.   Akinsola was speaking about a similar effort by the Ikorodu Division Chieftaincy Committee which has been moving round the division to sensitise the people and institutions on the need for urgent cultural rebirth across the division. She urged the Committee to liase with Agunbiade and IREP.
She therefore enjoined SOB and the IREP team to be focused and unwavering in their quest to promote and project the tourism potentials of Asa Arokolo and other cultural prides of the division.
On their own, members of the committee said they are moving round in a bid to dig into the cultural heritage of the division that are almost going into extinction.
They applauded the efforts of Agunbiade and IREP and urged the Majority Leader to continue in his uysal quest to reposition Ikorodu division and its people for good.
According to them,  they have visited key areas in the Division, and have been able to identify valuable cultural values and practices that are unifying across the division.
“We visited the ancient Yewa River in Igbogbo and we are hoping to see to the revival of the annual celebration accorded it in the past.
“Not just that, we will work towards the resuscitation of those cultural values and heritage that can be preserved and developed into tourism earrners,” the chiefs said.
