Police Intercept Smuggled 220 Bags Of Rice, Frozen Chickens On Daleko Bridge In Lagos
The Lagos Police command have arrested 3 suspecedt smugglers and six vehicles carrying contraband goods including 220 bags of rice and several cartons of frozen chickens and turkey on Daleko bridge Mushin Isolo, Lagos.
Chike Oti, a Superintended of Police, SP and Police Public Relations Officers, PPRO told pressmen that the vehicles were intercepted by the team of police men led by the Area Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police,ACP Akinbayo Olasoji while driving one-way on the Daleko bridge, Mushin Isoko area of the state.
According to him,the seized vehicles were six while four vehicles carried 220 bags of rice, the other two had several cartons of frozen chicken and turkey.
According to Oti, three of the suspects were arrested while others escaped. The team of policemen who were on the road to ensure ‘no one-way driving’ nab the smugglers who bring in chicken and turkey illegally.The acting CP imohimi Edgal, have early warned all those smugglers to stop sabotaging the country’s economy. “Mushin or any other parts of the state is no go area for illegal business. If they have been doing it before, we are taking a stand against it.
The police boss is serious about the enforcement of the law of this country and the enforcement of the constitution.”For further prosecution, the police handed over the suspects and the seized exhibits to the Nigerian Custom. “This arrest is not for the offence of one-way but for smuggling.
This will serve as a deterrent to others that Area D and the Lagos police is no-nonsense area in taking active measures and protesting the state
