Agunbiade Splashes Money On Winners Of Best Brain Contest In Ikorodu

SOB Agunbiade last Wednesday on puts smiles on the faces of the best outstanding students who participated in just concluded Best Brain Contest. The event which took place at Government Technical College Ikorodu was chaired by Asipa Kaoli Olusanya, APC Lagos Vice Chairman.
While presenting cash and other items to the eleven best students from three different categories of the contest, Hon. Agunbiade said he was moved to organize the event as he was a beneficiary of prize giving day ceremony in his primary school days. He said the children were picked based on their academic performances in their respective schools. The lawmaker urged others students to take their education seriously
350 students participated in the contest tagged: ‘Rasak Solaja-Alagago Best Brains Contest’. Participatory students were drawn from about 104 public and private schools in Ikorodu area of Lagos State.
The students were examined in writing test which was supervised by Comrade Oluwafemi Fakolade, NUT Chairman in Ikorodu Local Government.
Otunba Dare Odufowokan, an editor with The Nation Newspaper and coordinator of the contest praises Hon. Agunbiade for his numerous community development efforts and urged the people of Ikorodu to give him more supports in any of his undertakings. Odufowokan also hails the students for being good ambassadors of their various schools and urged politicians to emulate the kind gesture of the Majority leader.
Kafila Sobowale, an educationist and one of the examiners said students were engaged in written examination in Mathematics, English Language and General Papers.
The overall winner of each of the three categories received N50, 000 with school bags and certificate while the second and third of each category collected N30, 000 and N20, 000 with school bags and certificates respectively. The remaining eight winners of each category also went home with N10, 000 each with school bags and certificates.
All other students were given certificates and school bags for their participation in the Best Brain Contest.
The winners schools were also not left behind as they were awarded N20, 000 each with trophies.
The NUT Chairman, Comrade Fakolade lauded Hon. SOB Agunbiade for his steadfastness in community development. Despite not knowing whom Rasak Alagago is, Fakolade promised to immortalize him for his contributions towards the development of education during his life time.
The event was also graced by former Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Carenna, who represented Chairman of SUBEB, Alhaji Kabir Ajalogun, the LGAs Chairmen of APC in Ikorodu Division, Schools Principals, Party faithful, among others.
