APC Guber’s Pry: A Reporter’s Diary From Epe

The governor’s press crew arrived the governor’s residence in Epe at about 9.30a.m. in the press crew bus and the governor arrived at about an hour later with his convoy at 10.14a.m.

At about 11.30a.m. the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Habib Aruba asked the press crew to go round Epe to monitor the primaries and he drove out.

As we made to move out in the crew’s bus, the ADC to the governor (name not known) halted the bus asking what we were doing in the governor’s place that they don’t need the correspondents, that Epe is peaceful and that we should go to Lagos and report on areas where people are being prevented from voting.

He said they only requested for the governor’s in-house crew and not correspondents covering the gvernor’s office.

Curiously however, up till 11.46a.m. when the correspondent”s bus drove out of the governor’s premises for the onward journey back to Alausa, Governor Ambode was yet to leave his residence to go for accreditation, that is less than fifteen  minutes to the end of accreditation time.

However, as at the time we drove through Epe town on our way back to Alausa, Epe was generally peaceful.

The question on everybody’s lips as we left the premises was “could the governor be contemplating boycotting the election having seen the handwriting on the wall, moreso as results have started trickling in from some wardsHowever, Security Monitor scoops that the governor is authoritatively wining in virtually all wards in his home base of Epe.
