Is DIG Peace Ibekwe Abdallah A Super Corp?

Gallant and charming, Peace Ibekwe Abdallah, a Deputy Inspector General of Police, DIG is the highest ranking woman police officer in Nigeria. The ever smiling super corp was born on the 7th April 1963 in Odoje Village, near Onitsha, Anambra State.

She’s a daughter of former Commissioner of Police, Mr. Mike Ibekwe. She joined the Nigerian Police at age 29 as a Cadet ASP. Her First duty as a Police Commissioner was heading the Monitoring Unit Force Headquarters Abuja.

Madam Peace is a combination of beauty and brilliancy in the course she chooses. When she was a Police Commissioner, the Governor of Ebonyi, David Umahi once remarked about DIP Peace that “Her joviality should not be taken for granted because somebody who smiles like her can be strict and even difficult.” Her ever cheerful and jovial character earned her a nickname the, ‘Smiling Police Woman’.

Wale Abydeen, Security Monitor’s Managing Editor and President of the Nigerian Guild of Investigative Journalists, NGIJ also describes the DIG as “a woman of substance and sterling example for every woman irrespective of her carrier”. Abydeen added that DIG Peace Ibekwe could not have been an extra ordinary woman but an ordinary woman doing her police job in an extra ordinary way. He added that by getting to the peak of her carrier in a job stigmatized as dangerous and dreadful, Peace Ibekwe deserves to be honored. He hints that the NGIJ is planning to award DIG Peace in its coming annual conference as he wishes her a “record breaking success”.
