Why Buhari Should Develop Engineering Sector” By ENIBOD Boss,Eng. Olabode
President Muhammadu Buhari has been urged to concentrate more on the development of the engineering sector for the country to be self reliance.
The Managing Director of ENIBOD Nigeria Enterprises Limited, Engineer Komolafe Olabode gave the advice in an interview with newsmen in Lokoja.
Engineer Olabode who appealed for financial support towards research in engineering sector noted that development of the nation depends on the creativity and strength of its engineers.
According to him, Nigeria is endowed with intellectually gifted individuals who are capable of manufacturing sophisticated machine or equipment if supported with financial grants.
His words;
“There are a lot of brains in Nigeria. Some passed through formal education as an engineer, some do not even go through school but what they construct, you will marvel at it. Like I speak with you, I am into construction. I construct local dredgers, I construct vehicular ferries that can carry six to eight vehicles as the case may be. I can dredge. All these ones, if we have a various of it, a lot of users will be engaged.”
He attributed the high rates of crime to lack of initiatives for job creation and lack of employment opportunities.
Engineer Olabode urged the Federal Government to focus more on man power development as well as the excavation of mineral resources that are of commercial quantities.
He cited Binnin Republic as an example of a growing economy that depends largely on the rivers for it’s source of revenue adding that Nigeria, with forty seven mineral resources should be the best country in the world.
