RISING INSECURITY: WHO’S NOW DECEIVING NIGERIANS? By OLUSEGUN OLUSOLA

The last couples of weeks have witnessed unfortunate blood sheds , kidnapping and cold murders of Innocent Nigerians in their numbers . Ranging from abduction of two University of Maiduguri students to gruesome murder of one of them to ravaging of community and abduction of CAN president to murder of same by Boko Haram , a sect which Buhari government earlier told us had been defeated . It was also the week which recorded gruesome murder of Oko Oloyun, a trado medical giant in South western Nigeria and even our Kwara is not spared as we have recorded several cases of kidnapping by armed bandits all in the last two weeks .

I didn’t want to write anything on this but when I saw in the news that the current 9th Senate under Senator Ahmed Lawan(APC anointed SP) together with the lower chamber have been calling for compulsory sack of all service chiefs , I couldn’t help than to shake my head over what I can describe as  citizens poor understanding of governance in this country called Nigeria and continued deception of the masses by Buhari led government

In the year 2018 through 2019, when insurgents was at the top of their operations killing innocents Nigerians in the northeast region and even spreading to parts of North central states such as Benue and Kogi state , the 8th National Assembly under Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki (CON) out of curiosity to checkmates these insurgents held series of parliamentary deliberations and meetings with Nigerian Service chiefs in a bid to fine tune urgent steps to halt indiscriminate and wicked killings of Nigerians .

In their magnanimous agenda to restore security of lives and properties of Nigerians, they invited all the Service Chiefs including the Inspector General of Police to have a dialogue on what may be their recommendations and way out of insecurities. This steps was well attended to by service Chief except the then  Inspector General of Police who was empowered by Buhari led executives arms of government to disrespect and dishonor the National Assembly invitation thinking they are embarrassing Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki (CON) who was then the leader of national Assembly because those who think they own Nigeria were not pleased with his continue acceptability by virtually all members of 8th NASS.

To worsen the pictures  , they rolled out series of propaganda , unfounded , cooked and trumped up negative allegations against the person of Bukola Saraki and the 8th National Assembly under his watch , this was in a bid to perfect their total domineering of all arms of government by opening National Assembly to public ridicules so that unsuspecting citizens would be incited against Saraki and the entire Parliament.

They sold to citizens that Buhari is a saint and man of integrity while painting Dr Bukola Saraki  and National Assembly all sorts of unprintable names . Indeed , they succeeded in their bids as so many Nigerians out of sheer ignorance bought into their mischiefs and rose against the national Assembly.

They perpetrated similar act against respected judges and ensured the judiciary was brought to complete submission with full fledged war waged against some principal actors in judiciary.

Sadly enough, appreciable numbers of citizens who believe President  Buhari is infallible and that his integrity is enough for Nigeria irrespective of dangers fell in for these cheap propaganda and joined in the unfortunate attacks of National Assembly that ordinarily should be meeting point of masses to checkmate the excesses of those in power .

 Some even went Haywire after they were paid to embark on worthless protests (#OccupyNASS)  against the leadership of the  Parliament calling for the sack of Senate President and even Scrapping of Nigerian Senate , an institution with clear defined functions under a working democracy for that matter .

After all the failed attempts to lure Dr Bukola Saraki into submitting the national Assembly to their whims , and after all Rigmaroles,  Former Senate president , Dr Bukola Saraki  , the Speaker of the House , Yakubu Dogara worked assiduously with their colleagues on national interest and passed a great resolutions that may help improve security in the land  , one of the resolutions tabled before the President enjoined Mr Presidents to remove the Inspector General of Police whose ineptitude had led to several killings in Benue State and other parts of Nigeria.

The joint National Assembly resolution reads in part :

*”The National Assembly hereby affirms its earlier resolution of vote of no confidence on the Inspector General of Police who does nothing other than preside over the killing of innocent Nigerians and consistent framing up of perceived political opponents of the President and outright disregard for constitutional authority.”*The senate has earlier called on President Buhari to overhaul our security architecture and change all the Presiding officers for the army

But instead of seeing this as a necessary clarion calls from the National Assembly,  they saw it as Saraki was fighting them , and funny enough , some Buhari and APC praise singers were clapping for Buhari noting that Saraki and the National Assembly were corrupt while Buhari and anything that has to do with him are saints and symbols of integrity and hence enough for Nigeria to get out of this mess.

Today , the National Assembly under leaderships anointed by President Buhari and his APC have also seen the same resolutions passed by Saraki led 8th Assembly as the only way out of this security failure and have started calling for the sack of all Service Chiefs  including the inspector General of Police .

*This brings me to a very important question” WHO IS ACTUALLY DECEIVING NIGERIANS BETWEEN BUHARI AND HIS APC APOLOGISTS WHO CALLED FOR SCRAP OF SENATE AND THE SARAKI LEADERSHIP OF NASS WHICH PASSED A PRESSING RESOLUTION TO COUNTER INSECURITY?*

Nigerians should note that hundreds of innocents lives that have been lost to Boko Haram insurgents and Banditry across the country may have been avoided if the right decision had been taken before now . if the right resolution of senate had been put into use , the family of Oko Oloyun might not have lost their son to such satanic set up

This is a call to reason, we must bow wear our thinking caps as citizens , we must begin to act beyond partisan sentiments and embrace good governance . Those who have been killed and displaced by insurgents are not Saraki children nor Buhari relatives , it is still the same people they mobilised for occupy NASS that may be victims of this insurgents or their family members

When the government are going wrong and you are praising it because of sentiment , this is to tell you the government will not pay for its misdeeds, its always you and I that will pay dearly for it
