Why Police In Lagos Detain Jemila Ibrahim, 19 & Fatima Mohammed, 21
By Wale Abydeen/LAGOS// A 19 years old Jemila Ibrahim and her friend, Fatima Mohammed, 21 are cooling off their feet in police detention over emotional maladjustment that pushed them to commit murder. The duo of Jemila and Fatima is an example of over jealous lover. They both live at Monkey Village, Festac Town area of Lagos and were arrested for setting ablaze the house of one Mohammed Yusuf of the same Monkey Village in Lagos State.
The incident according to police report led to the death of Yussuf’s girlfriend, Rabi, an eighteenth years old girl friend of Yusuf who was said to be in his house while Jemila and her friend Fatima came in on November, 2020 and put the house on fire at abouit 5.30pm.
Muyiwa Adejobi, a Superintended of Police and spokesman of Lagos Police Command stated that Mohammed Yusuf is an ex-lover to the suspect, Jemila. He was said to have had the hint of the incident and rushed to the house where he met his house on flame. Yusuf was said to have managed to rescue Rabi, his new lover, from the inferno and took her to the hospital. Rabi was said to be unlucky as she gave up the ghost on 21st November, 2020, at about 12pm.
Mohammed had alleged his former lover, Jemila Ibrahim, of infidelity before they broke up. He later met and fell in love with his new lover, Rabi, which was caught up in the inferno.
The duo of Jemila Ibrahim and her friend, Fatimo Mohammed of Monkey Village to commit the heinous crime have been arrested by the police operatives attached to Satellite Division of the command.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu, who condemned the crime, ordered that the matter be transferred to the State CID, Panti, for discreet investigation. The Commissioner of Police also vowed to go after those who engage in crimes and social vices in order to get Lagos State rid of criminals and criminality.
The police boss however encouraged Lagosians to shun taking laws into their hands; noting that jungle justice will only truncate the administration of justice and such could be counterproductive
