Trump issues statement calling for ‘NO violence’; Trump has yet to formally concede the 2020 presidential election to Joe Biden and last week urged his supporters to march on Congress after telling them to come to Washington, D.C. for a “wild” time.
In a statement released by the White House, President Trump said, “In light of reports of more demonstrations, I urge that there must be NO violence, NO lawbreaking and NO vandalism of any kind. That is not what I stand for and it is not what America stands for. I call on ALL Americans to help ease tensions and calm tempers. Thank You.”

Hours later, as police attempted to clear the Capitol, Trump posted a video telling the rioters it was time to “go home.” He repeated that the election was stolen from him and told the hundreds who had committed federal crimes that they were “very special” and “we love you.”
