CAIDOV MOURNS ODUMAKIN, CHUKWUMA, CALLS ON GOVERNMENT TO IMMORTALISE THEM

The death of two prominent human rights activists in Nigeria on Saturday as been described as a “big blow to the human rights community and the country at large and only immortalization of the duo of Comrades Yinka Odumakin and Innocent Chukwuma will heal their painful exit.
This suggestion was made in Lagos by the Centre Against Injustice and Domestic Violence (CAIDOV) in a statement issued and signed by its Executive Director, Comrade Gbenga Soloki , describing the duo as courageous and fearless in the course of fighting for human rights and enthronement of democratic government.
According to the group” the duo of comrades Yinka Odumakin and Innocent Chukwuma were courageous, fearless activists who gave all they had to send the military to the barracks in conjunction with several others. In the course of deepening the Democratic process, they did their best and were vehement on good governance and the rule of law at all times. “
” What the government can do to honour them is through immortalization of these great activists, so that unborn children will be informed of their patriotic duties in this great country. “,Caidov maintained.
Lastly, the organization appeals to the families not to mourn them but to celebrate their worthy lives, stressing “that though they lived short lives, but eventful in all ramifications. No doubt, the country will miss their valuable contributions to nation building. “
