CBN FAIR: LAGOS NOA DIRECTOR PLEDGES SENSITIZATION CAMPAIGN

With a good number of social intervention programmes run by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) which had not being fully utilized by the citizenry, the CBN on Thursday 10th June, 2021 held a ‘CBN FAIR’ enlightenment campaign at the Nelos Place event Centre, 2, Yomi Oshikoya drive, off Mobolaji Bank Anthony way, Ikeja, Lagos State, to sensitize the people on how to key into it and make good use of the opportunities.

In his goodwill remarks, the Director, National Orientation Agency (NOA) Lagos Directorate, Mr. Waheed Ishola who commended the CBN for the FAIR, said that it is a step in the right direction, because, it is an avenue to bring CBN close to the people. He urged all stakeholders in businesses to key into the various interventions of the Central Bank of Nigeria to boost the economy and decrease unemployment, especially the Agricultural sector and its value chain. The Director noted that the campaign would improve the livelihood of Nigerians to access the funds, which invariably would be a win-win situation to both the government and people. He promised the Agency’s readiness to partner with CBN in cascading to the grassroot.

Earlier in his overview of the seminar, the Acting Director, Corporate Communications Department, CBN, Mr. Osita N. said that the “CBN FAIR” is a harmonized sensitization on all the CBN initiatives of Real Sector Financing and interventions, Payment Systems Initiatives, Consumer Protection, Clean Naira Notes Policy, Financial inclusion, Consumer Rights amongst others. He further noted that the Central Bank of Nigeria intends to sensitize Manufacturers, Traders, Farmers, Banks, Artisans, Cooperatives and the general public on the various policies and programmes of the Bank which they could key into.

High-point of the event was the various presentations by Lagos and Abeokuta departments of the bank branches on Consumer Protection, Currency Operations, Payment system management and Development Finance.
