Those Who Raped Omuwunmi to Death Must Not Go Unpunished’, Kwara Group Warns

A leading pro-democracy group, Kwara Must Change has urged all Nigerians of goodwill to support the efforts at unravelling the killers of a 300level student of University of Ilorin, Olajide, Blessing Omowumi, a 23years old lady from Etan ward, of
Ekiti local Government who was raped and murdered in her residence some weeks ago.
This statement was made by the coordinator of the Women Wing of the group, Mopelola AbdulMaliq-Bashir while featuring on a Royal F.M programme “Awa Obinrin”.
Mopelola expressed shock at the gruesome way Blessing was raped and murdered. Adding that the circumstance surrounding her death evokes a sad emotion of how bestial a man can be to another man.
This, she said must not be allowed to go the way of cases of rape and murder that have occurred in the recent past. In her words, “Olajide Blessing Omowumi’s death is one too many, which must not be allowed to go in vain”.
She therefore appealed to members of the public who may have vital information that can be of assistance to the Nigerian police in the effort to bring the perpetrators of the dastardly act to book to come forward, and support the ongoing effort to unravel the killers.
She thanked the Nigerian police, Kwara State command for rising up to the challenge as usual. She also urged the agency not to rest until the killers of Blessing are found and brought to justice.
