Sequel to the forthcoming Local Government Election in Lagos State, the management of National Orientation Agency (NOA) Lagos Directorate led by the Director, Mr. Waheed Ishola and the management of Ministry of Information, on the visitation of the Chairman, Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC), Honourable Justice Awotunde A. Phillips, held a one-day advocacy meeting on how to sensitize Lagosian to actively and passively participate in the election.

In her remarks, the chairman said that the main reason for the meeting was to seek the assistance and cooperation of the Agency in educating, sensitizing and mobilizing the general public on their role as citizens. She noted that with the huge voter apathy experienced during the last general election in the state, the need to massively mobilise the people towards the forthcoming Local Government Election cannot be over-emphasied.  Since the election scheduled for 24th July, 2021 is fast approaching, the chairman urged the Agencies to as a matter of urgency draw-up a workable programme that would blast out the event to all nooks and crannies of the state. She commended NOA for her grassroot programmes and wished such would be replicated towards the forthcoming election.

Responding to the request, the Director, National Orientation Agency, Mr. Waheed Ishola promised to make available all the Agency’s platforms for the success of the election. He said that as an Agency of government that is present in all the 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas of the State, speaking the local language of the people, the need to massively sensitise and mobilise the people is assured. He further suggested to the Commission the immediate printing of handbills, posters, radio/TV jingles, which are to be made available to the Agency for ease of implementation. The Director finally promised a quick response to the demands of the chairman because all hands must be on deck.
