Nassarawa Council Poll: PDP Wants Election Umpire to Reduce Cost of Nomination Form; ‘exorbitant sums of five hundred thousand(N500,000.00) and two hundred thousand naira(N200,000.00) respectively to obtain these forms’
The People’s Democratic Party(PDP) Nasarawa state chapter wishes to further express great concern on the current happenings towards the forthcoming Local Government Chairmanship and Wards Councillorship Elections in the 13 LGCs and the 147 electoral Wards in the state slated for the 6th of October 2021, in Nasarawa state.
We as a Party are passionately calling on the Nasarawa State Independent Electoral Commission (NASIEC) to drastically review downwards, the amounts for the purchase of nomination forms for chairmanship and councillorship positions. This is because the common masses most especially the youths and women whom are passionate to contest are finding it very difficult to afford such exorbitant sums of five hundred thousand(N500,000.00) and two hundred thousand naira(N200,000.00) respectively to obtain these forms from NASIEC as a mandatory condition to contest in the forthcoming LGC Elections.
The PDP wishes to also draw the attention of the Nasarawa State Governor, Egnr. AA Sule, to speak to the State Revenue Board to review the high rate of charges slammed on candidates for the Tax Identification Number (TIN). The charges are unexplainably outrageous and thoughtless, considering the current skyrocketing rate of poverty and joblessness in the State and the country at large.
As a party, we wish to call on the attention of the Chairman Traditional Council of Chiefs in Nasarawa state, HRH. Justice Mohammed Sidi Bage (Rtd), to advise some of the traditional rulers who have become instruments of some political parties in intimidating, interfering and threatening candidates who are not their favourites, to desist from being partisan in the ongoing party primaries and the forthcoming local government elections, by upholding their values, sacred heritage and cultural integrity of the Traditional institution.
This is because sooner or later those Royal Fathers and their agents who are openly participating and interfering in inter and intra party politics will not only attract gross disrespect but drag to disrepute the integrity of our sacred traditional institutions. This is because sooner or later those royal fathers who are openly participating and interfering in inter or intra party politics will not only attract gross disrespect to traditional institution, but should equally be prepared to face open criticism and name calling from politicians because that is part of the price of politicking.
Meanwhile, the PDP chairmanship and councillorship candidates, party faithfuls as well as the teaming supporters of our great party are encouraged to remain resolute, focused and determined as we prepare towards victory at the polls. We wish to reassure you of our readiness and commitment towards protecting your votes/mandates. We are ready as long as NASIEC provides a level play ground.
Nasarawa state chapter.
