Is Speaker Obasa also A Member of MURIC? Christians need to know By Bolaji Akinyemi

In my article titled the battle of the cross and the crescent, the needless war of control by foreign invaders under the cover of religion was my concern. Though religions are better left outside the structure of Government, Islam is designed for conquest and will not be content without gaining control of power! This is the reason for the existence of group such as MURIC which has found compromise in the silence of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and Nigerian Supreme Council for Ecclesiastical Affairs (NSCEA) for her many unwanted attacks.

The advent of Christianity led to the arrival of colonial government in Africa, for which this blessed continent has become a curse to herself. The exploits of colonial government in Africa and western global dominance was what sent the Arabs to the drawing board and brought about Arabs occupation as against western colonisation, which explains policies like Ruga, cattle colonies and grazing routes. The desire to root out western hold on our system birthed ideologies such as Boko Haram, ISWAP, etc in Nigeria!

Our country became the battlefield for political control of the British who came in through the south and the Arab invaders who came in from the north. Religions became their merchandise. Christianity & Islam are the hypocritical tools of foreign religions responsible for most Ethno-Religious Violence & Upheavals around the world!

We have genuine world history to our rescue in this regard, Colonialism hid behind missionary whose mission was clear. Arabs came on board solely to counter colonialists’ “Invalid Incursions” and have there share in the name of Islam. For example the colonisation of Nigeria brought about the adoption of Gregerian Calendar which inadvertently is viewed as Christian Calendar!

This is what from the time of Arab invasion, Uthman Dan Fodio came into Nigeria to counter violently till today!

Only a fundamental restructuring into a truly Secular system of governance by legitimate Nigerians is the most intelligent solution to our violently conflicting system!

Though Nigeria is said to be an independent state since October 1, 1960, October 2021, sixty-one long years after, the British vacated government and left Nigeria; the models and patterns of Arabs conquest have not just led to their indigenization but the superiority of their tribes among Nigerians and of course their tools of conquest, Islam!

Western Nigeria has been the mixing point of Islam and Christianity with a culture of tolerance having the capacity to evolve a new world order, gazing at dominance of Islamic ideologists and Jihadists which was restricted to the North until Islamic ideologists such as Rauf Aregbesola, who is rumoured to have an Ebira father and an Ijesa mother joined politics and gained control of Osun State and branded same as the “State of Osun”, an incomplete concept if you ask me. The hidden word is Islamic, ‘Islamic State of Osun’ if you like. Today, the soul of Osun is seriously being fought for, as Kwara, and Kaduna state, etc.

The last election into the house of Assembly saw Obasa returning for the fifth time, for which he jokingly said there are five pillars of Islam and that the Muslim prays five times a day. Obasa’s fifth time prayer for the establishment of Sharia as a pillar of justice in Lagos is finally heard! Though this may not be unconnected with the need to convince the northern oligarchy of Tinubu’s Lagos preparedness to be accommodative of Sharia in the South West and the whole of Nigeria under the SWAGA 2023 project for which Obasa is a major stakeholder! But may the Almighty God forbid!

Obasa’s leadership of Lagos State House Assembly at this time scored a point of interest in support of Islamic jurisprudence when the amendment of the Lagos State Customary Law pursuant to which the Chief Judge under the amended Law is empowered to create Shari’a Courts!

This must have informed the visit of members of Christian Lawyers Fellowship of Nigeria, CLASFON, led by the Lagos State Chapter Chairman, Prince Okey-Joe Onuakalusi, to the Speaker Lagos State House of Assembly, RT Honourable Mudasiru Obasa. Onuakalusi emphasized the need to review section 22(3) of the Customary Law of Lagos, which allows the application of Islamic law on Islamic related matters to accommodate an Ecclesiastical Courts for Christians. The section in question provides that Lagos State Judicial Service Commission may designate a court to adjudicate on Islamic Law and matters in relation to marriage, divorce, custody and inheritance as IT DEEM FIT! Lagos State House of Assembly has fulfilled the desire of Ishaq Akintola and MURIC in flagrant disregard of Christians in the State.

This of course is rumoured to have been harped upon by the Lagos State Chief Judge, Honourable Justice Kazeem Alogba, who in use of the power conferred on him by Obasa led Assembly’s Amendment, has converted Ifako/Ijaiye Customary court into a Sharia Court, the 1st of it’s kind in Lagos!

A social commentator has this to say; “it is also observed that under the current CJ, a habitual appointment of Muslims to the Lagos State Bench such that the Lagos state Bench may be observed as now being dominated by judges of a certain faith. Or is my bias affecting my vision”?

Who went further; “it doesn’t matter, some would say. You’re being needlessly paranoid, others might say. But this is because they either never studied Jurisprudence or their study of the discipline finds no relevance in their analytical tools kit to be able to decipher the implications of what’s happening!

But the implication is stark regardless, and this is not just because non-Muslims are typically smug or at best merely reactionary to Muslim political assertiveness, but because Islam is ontologically structured for conquests!

In other words, given the natural tendency for conquests by the Islamic faith, one Shari’a Court in Lagos only foreshadows the eventual mainstreaming of the Shari’a system not only in all of Lagos, but Yoruba land as a whole, and ultimately the entire South!

Some have responded by arguing for the establishment of Ecclesiastical Courts in Lagos as a counterbalancing measure. And I ask: What does that mean? That sounds impracticable to me! Nigeria is and remained a secular state

Hence the Shari’a locomotive is coasting home, programmed, as it were, like a robot to ambush, and nothing can be done to stop it, save and unless we get politically creative, smart, wilful and push with blood and iron for the restructuring of Nigeria! The implication is to plant terrorism of Islam fully in the South a s in the North, and the pushers are not in anyway immune even if they ignorant of their choice.

Now that the soul of Lagos State which is the Legislative Arm of Government has shown leaning towards Legislative Jihad, Yoruba Nation advocates can go and rest and the indefinite Christian community in Lagos should be content with their growing business interests while loosing occupation of the territory for which the Lord commanded them to hold till he will come! Now that Lagos has joined the core north in the adoption of Sharia through such subtle Amendment.

Let us at least rise to save the South East, the South South, the Middle Belt and the nation as a whole through demand for a secular constitution. The “soro soke” generation must take this bull in China shop by the horns, time is now that we must do away with everything religion from state affairs. Religion is a personal thing and it must be kept as such. Places of worship built within Government establishments should be turned over to other use.

Remember also the suit by Dr. Tony Nwaezeigwe et al. suit against Buhari and government over alleged Islamisation and Barr. Malcolm Omirhobo lawsuit seeking removal Arabic language naira notes still in court.

Freedom lovers must unite to ensure that Nigeria is restructured as a truly federating secular state immediately!
