2023 Elections: Adesanya-Davies Hails AAC As Party Shares Free Nomination Forms To Aspirants

A frontline female politician and presidential candidate of Mass Action Joint Alliance (MAJA) in 2019, Funmilayo Adesanya–Davies eulogises African Action Congress (AAC) on “Free For All Forms” says, “This is not only commendable, but the party has indelibly set the pace in Nigerian political space by “declaring that their expression of interest and nomination forms of the great party is free for all aspirants. Kudos to AAC!”
The National Working Committee of the AAC on Thursday announced that its expression of interest and nomination forms are free for all aspirants ranging from the office of the President to that of the Local Government Area office contenders. A statement signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Femi Adeyeye, said, “We hereby declare that the expression of interest and nomination forms of our great party is free for all aspirants.”
Thus, exemplarily, AAC shares free nomination forms to aspirants in a news report by Muhammad on April 28, 2022, titled, “AAC shares free nomination forms to aspirants”, in which the African Action Congress (AAC) has announced that its expression of interest and nomination forms are free for all aspirants. Wow, wow, wow!
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Femi Adeyeye said the decision to declare the forms free was part of the resolution by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party at the end of its meeting on April 24, 2022.
The statement added, with serious economic downturn, it was outrageous and criminal for the two major political parties-APC and PDP to have pegged their nomination and expression of interest forms for presidential aspirants at N100 and 40 million respectively.
“The downward review from the AAC NWC, to the point of declaring free for all positions, came after a clinical assessment of the economic woes caused by the unfortunate APC-led Buhari’s regime that claims to be fighting corruption in a change mantra.
“We understand that, for inclusive democracy to be kept alive in our society, even the poorest among us must not be disenfranchised through the backdoor – the money politics the evil twin, the APC and the PDP, are known for,” the statement reads in part.
Sadly, it’s like sales of Nomination Form is another industry of exploitation by the ruling party called APC in Nigeria. As at Thursday, The National Organising Secretary of APC, Alhaji Sulaiman Arugugu, Said:
1. 241 aspirants picked senatorial forms x 20m each = 4,820,000,000
2. 821 aspirants Picked House of Representatives x 10m each = 8,210,000,000
3. 1,505 aspirants Picked States House of Assembly x 2m each = 3,010,000,000
4. 48 aspirants Picked Governorship x 50m each = 2,400,000,000
5. 15 aspirants Picked Presidential x 100m each = 1,500,000,000
Thursday total = 19,940,000,000 (19 billion + approximately).
Further, the presidential candidate of Mass Action Joint Alliance (MAJA) in 2019, Funmilayo Adesanya–Davies who first declared that she would contest the 2023 presidential election under the platform of PDP but purposely declined says, first she did because, “the Form turned out not to be free for women as it was claimed.
Secondly, “I simply backed out because of the increasing number of persons and the array of aspirants, l had thought it would be like 3-5 persons ONLY for the PDP Presidential screening ultimately as a consensus candidate emerges.
Thirdly, “ as a woman, I am now willing to concede as Vice President in 2023 at this point or contest as an Independent candidate.
Adesanya-Davies continued, “If for instance a woman is not made the Nigerian President in 2023, then a woman should unfailingly be chosen as the running-mate to emerge as the Vice president, as Aisha Buhari has advised and I am willing to conceded that at this point.”
