LATE OLUKORO TAUGHT US TO FIGHT NOT TO PAY OR SURRENDER TO KIDNAPPERS’ -KWARA GROUP

By Olayiwola Ibrahim // A leading Pro-Democracy group, Kwara Must Change has hailed the late Olukoro of Koro in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, Oba Olusegun Aremu-Cole, who resisted kidnappers attempt to abduct him in his palace until he breath his last in the struggle against the kidnappers.

Kwara Must Change said that, the late Olukoro has taught us that we must resist kidnappers with everything we have and not surrender or negotiate with them, because we cannot pay our way out of the kidnapping crisis.

In a statement by the Convener of Kwara Must Change, Abdulrazaq Hamzat, the group said that Kwara State government must immortalize the late monarch and make him the symbol of resistance in the struggle against banditry.

According to Hamzat, information gathered indicates that the late Olukoro refused to be kidnapped, saying nobody could command him.

He refused to take orders from unknown gunmen and even when they shot in the air to scare him, he refused to surrender, nor get scared and in the struggle, they eventually shot him dead.

Hamzat explained that, the entire people of Kwara must be ready to fight, not pay or surrender to kidnappers, because until kidnappers knows that they won’t get paid, they will never desist from the act.

Kwara Must Change also maintained that the sacrifice of the late Olukoro must not be in vain, adding that security agencies should take inspiration from the late monarch who continue to fight until the very end.

Security agencies must do everything possible to rescue those in kidnappers den and bring the kidnappers to justice.
