The wife of a traditional ruler, Olori Kudirat Abosede Shotobi, has fallen victim to a fraudulent scheme and lost a staggering sum of N53 million. The alleged perpetrator, a 70-year-old man known as Adeyinka Adewoye Abdulkabir a.k.a Kabiyesi Owuro, has been apprehended and charged for his role in the swindle.

The deceitful incident unfolded in the bustling streets of Ikeja, Lagos, where Olori Shotobi was convinced to invest her funds in the Ikeja Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture passage farming scheme. The suspect, Abdulkabir, masquerading as an ambassador of the Chamber, cunningly diverted the substantial amount of money entrusted to him by Olori Shotobi, promising lucrative returns on the investment.

Distressingly, Olori Shotobi was not the only victim of Abdulkabir’s treacherous ploy. The fraudster targeted several other individuals, including Emeliezo Franscica, Atoyebi Feyishayo, Oludimu Dupe, Ojugbele Funmilayo, Solomon Alabi, and many more, siphoning off substantial sums of money from each of them under false pretenses.

The unsuspecting victims, lured by the promise of profitable returns, handed over their hard-earned money to Abdulkabir, only to realize later that their investments were never actualized. The fraudulent activities of the suspect came to light when the victims discovered the deceit and promptly reported the nefarious scheme to the authorities.

Following a diligent investigation, the Police apprehended Abdulkabir and subsequently charged him with impersonation, obtaining under false pretenses, and forgery before the Ogba Magistrate Court. Despite pleading not guilty, the accused was granted bail under strict conditions, requiring substantial financial sureties and verification of addresses.
