Just five days after completing a prison sentence, Kondwani Grey, 29, has been arrested by Lilongwe Police for allegedly stealing electronics from the Local Government Commission offices in Area 4.
According to Lilongwe Police Station Public Relations Officer, Hastings Chigalu, Grey took advantage of the lunch hour on July 18, 2025, when most staff were away, to sneak into the offices.
He said: “He allegedly packed several office electronics into a bag but was confronted by an individual who grew suspicious of his behavior.
“Grey attempted to flee the scene but was chased down and apprehended by staff.”
He added that Grey had only been released from Maula Prison on July 14, after serving a five-year sentence for a similar theft-related crime.
He is expected to appear in court soon to face a new charge of heft.
Grey hails from Chazuka Village, under Traditional Authority Tengani in Nsanje District
