Kwara PDP to KWSG: Stop Hiding Behind Government Machinery — Let Governor AbdulRahman and His Brother Answer The $800 Million Scandal
By Morris Nor// The Kwara State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is compelled to address the latest panicky, evasive, and poorly coordinated response issued by the Kwara State Government over the allegation made by Hon. Ilyasu Ibrahim, a frontline Ò Tọ̀ Gẹ́ crusader, respected APC chieftain, and an ally of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who openly stated on SBS FM that Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq secretly awarded a contract worth $800 million to his elder brother, Dr. Alimi AbdulRazaq.
Reacting to the position of the Kwara State government through a release by the Commissioner for Communication, Bolanle Olukoju, the state publicity secretary of the Kwara PDP, Olusegun Olusola Adewara said the allegation in question was not against the Kwara State government but specifically against Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq and his elder brother, Alimi AbdulRazaq
Therefore, it is both dishonourable and a gross abuse of office for the government’s spokesperson, paid with taxpayers’ money, to issue statements defending a private family scandal.
Why is the Kwara State Government fighting so desperately to protect the Governor and his elder brother?
Why are public institutions being used to shield private individuals?
The statement signed by Olukoju succeeded in attacking the whistleblower, the media station, questioned the personality of Hon. Ilyasu Ibrahim, and even threatened the NBC to take action against SBS FM
The government statement refused to address the actual issue, which is:
Did Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq secretly award a contract worth $800 million to his brother or not? This is the only question Kwarans are asking and this has not yet been attended to
If the Governor and his elder brother are innocent, let them speak directly to the people. Instead, the government machinery was rolled out in full force to defend a private scandal. That is the definition of conflict of interest and misuse of public office.
A Government that Panics Instead of Explaining Is a Government With Something to Hide
We also wish to remind Kwarans of previous scandals involving another “AbdulRazaq”
Our party has not forgotten the earlier shady contract involving a man also bearing the name AbdulRazaq, who was allegedly awarded the supply of about 200 transformers during this administration.
The key facts of that scandal are still fresh:The man received over 85% of the contract money before the contract was even officially awarded.
Till today, the transformers have never been supplied. The contractor allegedly embezzled the funds, leaving the state stranded. No one was punished. No recovery was made and most importantly — the state government kept quiet.
As a party, we believe that it is not a coincidence that every major questionable contract under this administration seems to revolve around the same surname. Kwarans are not foolish. Patterns do not hide themselves.
We use this medium to demand
1. A direct public explanation from Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
2. A personal statement from Dr. Alimi AbdulRazaq addressing the allegation.
3. A complete list of all contracts awarded since 2019, including beneficiaries and amounts.
4. A forensic review of the 200 transformer contract involving Mr. Abdulrazaq who allegedly absconded with 85% of the funds.
5. Protection of SBS FM and other media houses from intimidation and state-sponsored harassment.
This administration cannot continue to run Kwara like a private family estate where contracts are allegedly shared among relatives and insiders.
