● Trump claims Maduro Captured

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has issued a strong statement dated 3 January 2026 condemning what it describes as a United States military assault on Venezuela.

According to the EFF, the operation allegedly involved the capture and forcible removal of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores.

The party claims the reported action included U.S. airstrikes and special operations carried out across Venezuela, including in the capital city, Caracas.

It says these operations triggered explosions, widespread fear and alarm among civilians.

The EFF further alleges that U.S. President Donald Trump publicly claimed responsibility for the seizure of President Maduro.

Trump is said to have stated that Maduro would be transported to New York to face indictment.

The EFF argues that the U.S. president framed the operation as a strategic victory.

It claims Trump linked the intervention to securing control over Venezuela’s vast oil resources.

The EFF states that such actions amount to a clear violation of international law.

It adds that the alleged assault undermines the principle of national sovereignty.

The party warns that this sets a dangerous precedent for powerful states to invade or abduct leaders of sovereign nations.

The EFF has called on the international community to recognize the operation as unlawful.

It cautions that such actions threaten global stability and regional peace.

Meanwhile, the African Union (AU) has expressed grave concern over recent developments in Venezuela.

The AU cited reports of President Maduro’s alleged abduction and military attacks on state institutions.

In its response, the union called for restraint by all parties involved.

It emphasized the importance of respecting international law.

The AU also urged dialogue as the primary means of resolving disputes.

It stressed the need for inclusive political engagement among Venezuelans.

The union reaffirmed its commitment to peace, stability, and mutual respect in the region.

Separately, U.S. President Donald Trump has claimed that American forces launched strikes on Venezuela.

He said the operation resulted in the capture of President Nicolás Maduro.

Trump claimed that the United States would temporarily “run” Venezuela.

He said this would continue until a “safe and proper transition” of leadership is achieved.

Trump also warned of a possible larger follow-up attack if deemed necessary.
He added that no U.S. troops were killed during the operation.

The U.S. president further claimed that American oil companies would assist in repairing Venezuela’s infrastructure.

In response, Venezuela has declared a national emergency and condemned what it called “extremely serious military aggression.”

Maduro, who faces U.S. drug and weapons charges, has previously denied all allegations against him.
