Police To Charge 45 Years Old Woman To Court Over Child Abuse

A 45 years old, mother of two, Mrs Charity Iyonetu was arrested for allegedly assulted a minor, Chinonye Iyonetu.

The suspect deals on food stuff at animal kingdom market, close to Seme Border area of Lagos state

According to the suspect who accused the minor of being a wizard, she said that since one year now she brought the victim from village she has never have peace

Speaking further, “she said that all my properties have being damaged by the boy. There is no day the boy will not destroy one thing or the other in the house”.

“He is still in primary one. And whenever he goes to school he will not enter inside the classroom. He is found of tearing all his notebooks and textbooks. I have taking this boy to many spiritual homes for deliverance yet he keeps destroying things in the house”.

“One day he told me there is one thing that always wears black cloth and come to the house to disturb him”.

The child abuse suspect also added that “before this incident, I called my brother,  his father that I am bringing this boy back to him since I can not cope with him any longer, but my brother pleaded with me that I should still bear with him .

My brother told me he has done consultation through traditional way to know what is the problem of the boy that he was told he’s possessed by evil spirit which he needs to carry out sacrifice for him before he will be free from the evil spirit”.

The commissioner of police Lagos state command, Edgal Imohimi,who paraded the suspect said that the case was reported by neighbor who heard when the boy was screening for help after his aunt assaulted him and tight him up with rope and left for his business.

Edgal said that the victim Chinonye Iyonetu, who hails from Imo state was brought to Lagos sometime in 2016 by his aunt to stay with his father elder sister after his mother abandoned him and left to unknown place.

He said,the suspect always  maltreat him and accused him of witch craft. So, on 9th of May at about 0900hrs, the suspect use horse whip (koboko) to flog the little boy and inflicts injuries all over his boy .

It was help of the neighbor who called police.  Police team arrived the house where the boy was lock up at his aunt one room apartment and broke the door and rescued him. The suspect would be charged to the special and sexual offences court as soon as investigation is concluded.
