Kogi To Recruit Additional 500 Youths Into Vigilante Group
Kogi State Government has approved the recruitment of additional five hundred vigilantes to protect the boarder areas of the state.
The Controller of the State Vigilantes Services, Retired Colonel, Hassan Aliu who stated this while speaking with newsmen in Lokoja said the decision is to beef up security ahead of the 2019, general election.
According to him, those to be recruited will be dispatched to Omola, Olamaboro, Bassa and other areas that border the state, assuring that they would work in collaboration with other security outfits on intelligence gathering and prevention of crime.
He expressed appreciation to Governor Yahaya Bello for placing priority on security which according to him has yielded positive results.
The Controller also urged the citizens of the state to be law abiding and avoid issues that can lead to communal clashes, saying the protection of lives and properties is crucial to the development of the state
