Federal School of Statistics S.U.G President, Fin Sec Suspended Over Fraud

Nurudeen Yusuf Olatunji (Optimist) and Ajibola Idris Abiola (Brown), the Student Union President and Financial Secretary of Federal School of Statistics, Ibadan Campus has been indefinitely suspended from office after being found guilty of charges against them at the Congress held Tuesday June 19, 2018.
The union, has a running account which is with the management but before any money can be collected, the Union budget has to approved by the Reps. However, when the regime commenced, the Reps approved 180,000 for the Fresher’s Party but the CEC went ahead to collect N200,000 claiming to have used a veto power dwelling with the President.
Over time, the President and Fin. Sec. has been known of their egocentric act by not carrying along other executive members concerning the decision that is bounded to be known by all of them. He was said to have turned the Financial Secretary to the Treasurer’ of the Union as he handles all monies by himself alone.
However, after knowing the CEC collects money without Approval, the SRC summoned demanded the breakdown of all their expenses so far and the CEC presented a whooping sum of 851,000 as expenditure . Aftermath, they were summoned by the house to defend their expenditure but then, the President left the state for the country’s capital stating that he is on an assignment on behalf of the Union. The greatest surprise was the fact that another amount of money undisclosed had been withdrawn again without prior approval of the Reps.
At the Congress, other executives members: Agiri Habeeb Adisa and Akinrefon Jeremiiah, Welfare Director and Director of Socials respectively denied knowledge of the expenses. The Financial Secretary claimed they know nothing about it. The Director of Social openly denied saying the budgeted amount for his program was just N40000 but the amount stated in the breakdown brought to the house was #60000. He further stated that his program was hijacked by the President has he took over his entire duties carrying them out without his knowledge.
The height of it all was the SU Project which was the basketball court and was said to have spend a total amount of N351000 to ‘renovate’ the court which has been measured by professionals that N20000 can’t be exhausted on the project for ordinary renovation. This same project that started having cracks the third day after its completion.
However, the Contractor of the project said that the CEC didn’t want to spend money on the project.
The greatest surprise was the fact that another amount of undisclosed money had been withdrawn without prior approval of the Reps for travelling expenses to the Federal Capital.
The Deputy Speaker of the house Hon. Afolabi Olajuwon under the able leadership of Rt. Hon. Eniola Iyanuoluwa Mary hereby after hearing from all staholders under the Union hereby accused the Pesident, Nurudeen Yusuf Olatunji for Gross Misconduct, Misappropriation of funds and Negligence of Duty while the Financial Secretary Ajibola Idris Abiola was charged with Gross Misconduct, Abuse of Office, Misappropriation of Funds, Forgery and theft in accordance with the Constitution of the SU as amended 2017. The President and his Financial Secretary were however suspended indefinitely.
The SU would however be led henceforth by the Vice President Mustapha Tosin Lateef who is to take over as the Acting President of the Union starting from 19th June, 2018.
