Atiku Group Charges Kogites On Voters’ Registration Exercise
By Ola Simon/LOKOJA/The people of Kogi State have been urged to massively participate in the ongoing voters registration excercise for the restoration of true democracy where power is vested in the people.
Kogi State coordinator for “Atikulated” project, Mallam Mohammed Salisu Gbaligbati gave the advice while speaking with newsmen at the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) Secretariat in Lokoja.
Mallam Salisu said there is need for massive awareness to put an end to All Progressive Congress APC tenure which has unleashed mayhem across the country with policies that have no respect for the welfare of common man.
He said the nation has continued to slide down from the records of achievements obtained during the PDP led administration saying Nigerians now walk the streets without hope of realising their daily bread.
Mallam Salisu urged Kogians to emulate the citizens of Rivers state who through a protest votes have entrenched the People Democratic Party to salvage the people from hunger and starvation.
His words, “it is unfortunate that in life people don’t appreciate good until they see evil. PDP was once the largest party in Africa and up till now it still remain the largest opposition party in Nigeria. Years back things have not been this hard there is no doubt about that. Every where I move in the country, there are painful noises here and there, people are sad my brother. We now have a government that doesn’t care about salaries and the welfare of the people, the education, health and other sectors have collapsed. People are victims of cheap death, I mean avoidable one. Worst still is that they can’t even talk. Out of apparent fear that the worst might come from government angle they numbed and at best grumble. If power has-been utilized that way, there will be no opposition, there will be no democracy, there will be no competition, and perhaps, there will be no APC. Politics is to benefit all humans including the beggars. If it now focuses on selected few then we are plunging into anarchy or totalitarianism. We must frantically reject that as good citizens, we must stand for our right. If a party can unleash mayhem at its own members and slaughter them like rams during the party congress, then where are we going?”
On Atikulated project, the coordinator said the initiatives is to support the presidential ambition of Alhaji Atiku Abubarka come 2019.
Similarly, on the choice of PDP governorship candidates in Kogi State, Mallam Salisu said consultation is ongoing for the best candidate to represent the party.
He however expressed hope that the former Governor of the state Alhaji Ibrahim Idris will throw his weight behind his son Mr Abubarka Idris to contest in the election.
