NAN Pledges Collaboration With APAAC Over Advertisements

The Advertising Practitioners’ Association Abuja  Chapter (APAAC) was  on a courtesy visit  to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN)  Headquarters, on 03/07/2018 in Abuja.

The Association led by the Chairman  Alh. Ibrahim Aliyu highlighted the need to acknowledge professionalism in the field of advertising and to see reasons why Nigerians should patronise advertisers who are professionals.

“As a notable Association in FCT, we are the umbrella body of Advertisers in Abuja and the Nation at large. We are certified  Advertisers by the Advertising Practitioners’ Council of Nigeria, (APCON).”

Alhaji Ibrahim noted that organisations need to know that it pays to patronise certified advertisers than quarks who know nothing about advertising ethics.

He said that using advertising professionals ensures better value.

He reminded the Director General of  the News Agency of Nigeria, Mr Bayo Onanuga, that officers in the Commercial, Marketing and indeed Corporate Communication,  should be qualified professionals with APCON certification.

The Chairman  noted that the current agenda of the association is to grow APAAC, Promote Professionalism and Promote Entrepreneurship.

” In respect to this, we seek partnership with the News Agency of  Nigeria so as to achieve maximum utilisation of the media to reach out to the public in carrying out our activities” he concluded.

In his response the Director General, Mr Onanuga who was represented by the Managing Editor, Mallam Yusuf Zango assured the  chairman and members of APAAC of NAN’s support  at all levels. ” I assure you that the News Agency of Nigeria would partner with you to ensure professionalism in the Advertising. We wouldn’t stop there but to build the relationship to a level that our staff would enroll as to make them professionals in the field” he said.

It is worthy to note that this is the fifth Courtesy visit by the APAAC Executive Committee since the election.

The Chairman is calling on members to look out for areas were individuals can key in to benefit from the interaction and good will generated by the courtesy calls.
