Workers Forum Assures Kogites of Government Commitment To Salary Payment

Kogi State Government has promised to implement the new minimum wage that is agreed upon by the tripatide committee constituted by the Federal Government.

The Chairman of the Concerned Kogi State Workers Forum, Comrade Adex Shaibu gave the assurance in a statement made available to newsmen in Lokoja today.

The statement said the decision was reached inspite of the impasse in the committee’s meeting that led to the national leadership of  the  Nigerian Labour Congress giving a forteen day ultimatum which startred  on September twelfth to finish its assignment and announce a minimum wage.

The statement assured Kogi workers that the state government has expressed its ability and willingness to pay whatever the committee agreed upon.

The statement urged other states to emulate the precept and condemned the action of some politicians that are against the welfare of workers.

It urged workers to ignore contrary opinions and lies that is not in tandem with the decision stressing that governance is about the physical and socio economic development of the people.

The statement called on workers to give peace a chance noting that industrial dispute will crippled the economy of the state and make the country a laughing stock in the committee of nation.

The statement also appealed to Governor Yahaya Bello to key into the policy of the National Chairman of the APC which is anchored on the principle of egalitarianism for the sustenance of good governance.

It commended Governor Yahaya Bello for sustaining equity, fairness and Justice in the distribution of resources and political appointment as well as the recent increase in the salary of Local Government workers from thirty percent to fifty four Percent.
