Sanwo-Olu Is Medically & Morally Unfit To Govern Lagos, Says Ambode

By Wale Abideen/LAGOS/ Further confusion enveloped the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC in Lagos State as the incumbent governor, Akinwunmi Ambode warns key figures of the party over avoidable downfall. “I plead with our leaders to have a rethink, it is not about me, it is about the opportunity that APC has.”

In the last few weeks, the governor has been in serious crisis over his reelection bid with strong party leaders who seem to have anointed a successor for him even when he has constitutional right to seek for a second term in office. The chronicles of events in the past few days were pressure mounts on him to renounce his reelection bid. The gesture he finds difficult to comprehend and have made frantic efforts overtly and covertly to nip.

According to Governor Ambode, the ostensibly preferred choice of the party elders, Babajide Sanwo-Olu is unfit to lead a populous state like Lagos. Ambode who apparently wear a bolder look during a World Press Conference in Lagos House, Alausa today condemns his opponent , Sanwo=Olu who is also in the race to secure the ticket of the APC in 2019 . Ambode said Sanwo-Olu was arrested for fraud in the US and therefore could not morally compete with him.

“We have never responded to the campaign of calumny on social media. We have one family in APC. The aspirant being put up to compete against us is not a fit and proper person to take this job,” he said.

“I have done everything in the last three and half years to serve people selflessly and to serve the poor.

“This particular aspirant is somebody that hs been arrested for spending fake dollars in a nightclub in America, and he has been detained for months.

“He doesn’t have the competence to do what he is being propelled to do. This is somebody that has gone for rehabilitation before. The records are there at the Gbagada General Hospital. We don’t want to go too far. Our leadership should have a rethink”.

While the Press Conference was going today, an APC leader from Oshodi who does not want to be named told SECURITY MONITOR that the party may end up losing Lagos to the opposition if the party faces the 2019 General Election with disloyal members. He added that Lagos is a cosmopolitan state that has a unique political culture and history. “My prayer is that may God guide our party leaders to be just in the primary election slated for tomorrow, Monday”.
