EFCC Arraigns Dangote staffs over N15 million fraud
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC on Thursday arraigned four Dangote sraffs namely Adewale Dalmeida, Ibrahim Lawal, Afeez Olaniba and Lukman Adam before Justice O. J. Bamgbose of Ogun State high court, Abeokuta, on two count charge bordering on conspiracy and stealing.
At this resume of hearing in court today was a mid drama in Court when the 2nd defendant told the Court that he did not understand English language, and he need interpreter in Hausa language. 3rd defendant too, said he understood Yoruba language, also the 4th, that he understood ashanti language or pigin English. Court provid interpreter for them in Hausa, Yoruba and pigin English respectively.
They pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
Counsel to the EFCC Idriss Mohammed applied that the defendants be remanded in prison custody in view their plea and trial date be given.
However, defence counsel to 1st defendant, Adewumi Adisa and defence counsel to 2nd, 3rd and 4th defendants, Abolanle Davies, pray the Court to moved oral application for bail since they are in EFCC custody since September, also that defendant should remain in EFCC custody pending the hearing of bail application.
Justice Bamgbose remanded all defendants in Ibara prison custody, Abeokuta and adjourned till 17th December, 2018 for hearing of bail application and commencement of trial.
Idriss said that EFCC had received a petition from Dangote company about Mr. Dalmeida Adewale a fleet analyst whose job schedules are monitoring, tracking and reporting of trucks of Dangote Cement Ibese counieved with the chief driver of the companies, Ibrahim Lawal and a driver, Ghanian national, Lukman Adam and one Afeez Olaniba working as agent at the Nigeria boarder diverted 9 trucks of Cement carrying 800 bags each meant to be delivered to the company’s customers in Togo using fake identification card and truks plate number, valued over N15 million.

“That you Adewale Dalmeida, Ibrahim Lawal, Afeez Olaniba and Lukman Adam between May and August, 2018 at Ibese within the jurisdiction of this honourable Court conspired amongst yourselves to commit felony, to wit: stealing of the sum of N15, 940, 800.00 00 (Fifteen Million, Nine Hundred and Forty Thousand, Eight Hundred Naira) property of Dangote Cement Place”.
Count two:
“That you Adewale Dalmeida, Ibrahim Lawal, Afeez Olaniba and Lukman Adam between May and August, 2018 at Ibese within the jurisdiction of this honourable Court stole 9 trucks of cement valued at N15, 940,800.00 00 (Fifteen Million, Nine Hundred and Forty Thousand, Eight Hundred Naira) property of Dangote Cement Place”.
