Shun Hate Speech’ Kogi NSCDC Boss Appeals To Politicians

By Ola Simon/LOKOJA/ Politicians have been urged to avoid the use of hate speech and negative comments that is capable of inciting violence among supporters.

Kogi State Commandant of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps, Mr Ayodele Philips gave the advice while speaking with newsmen in Lokoja.

Mr Philips who assured that the Command is adequately prepared to ensure a credible election urged politicians to abide by the rules guiding electoral campaign in order not to truncate the existing peace in the State.

He called for an issue based campaign and avoidance of politics of bitterness that is expected in a true democratic setting.

Mr Philips disclosed that the Command had embarked on series of training with sisters’ organization to maintain peace before, during and after the election.

On the allegation that security agencies we’re used to perpetrate fraud in some of the elections conducted so far, the Commandant who assured of the unbiased role of the command noted that his men will not engage in partisan politics.

He appealed to the public to assist in the aspect of intelligence gathering to enable the command realise it’s core mandate of ensuring peace and order as well as the protection of lives and prosperity.
