Extra Judicial Killing: Inspector Ogedengbe Deserves Death Penalty’, CHRSJ Insists

and Social Justice (CHRSJ) has insisted that Death Penalty  by hanging or by
firing Squad should be administered to the alleged the triger happy Police Officer,
Inspector Sanni Godwin Ogedengbe, who is attached to the Federal Special
Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) Magbon, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
CHRSJ alleged that the said Inspector Ogedengbe had gruesomely murdered an
innocent Nigeria citizen,Late Sharkor  in 2015 at the Lagos State Police
Command Cell, while he was Police Sergent attached to SARS Unit of the
Command.
In a Press statement issued and signed by the Executive Chairman of the
Group, Comrade Adeniyi, Alimi Sulaiman and made copies available to the
Journalists on Sunday,he revealed that, “according to the confession
statement made by Inspector Ogedegbe before the sitting of the Southwest
Zonal Panel of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) held at the
State High Court building in Ikeja between Tuesday 13th to Saturday 17th of
November, 2018 in Lagos State.
On Friday 16th of November, 2018,Ogedengbe made  confessional statement of
master minded the killing of Late Zaid during the Cross-Examination by the
Commission’s  Director of Legal services and Enforcement and as well
addimited that Late Sharkoor Zaid was shoot dead by him (Ogedengbe).
Ogedegbe further Confessed during the cross examination that Zaid body was
deposited at Ikorodu General Hospital Mutuary.
According to NHRC, “it will  shock any human being with milk of human
kindness to note that the same Inspector Ogedengbe also committed another
extral judicial killing of one Mr. Atiba Sunday in the left leg at Ogijo
police Station,On Thursday 22nd of June, 2017 before Sunday was illegally
detained for almost twenty-one day without having aceess to any his family
member,not to talk of his Lawyer.
“And during this period of illegal incarceration, Sunday did not have
access to any medical treatment.
While Ogedengbe further detained another seven innocent citizens for
completing two months and nine days illegally from 17th day of April to
26th June, 2015 in the Police cell.
But Ogedengbe was forced to charge the alleged suspects to Magistrate
Court  with a  Police Charge Sheet No:CR/MI8c /H/ 18/17/2015 where he
threatened to shoot three months old pregnant Woman(Adejoke Awoleru) by
also using his wife (Karunwi Rasidat’s) GTB Bank Account Number
(0130693409) to Extort and defrauded the unsuspected detaining and their
people, and also maltreated old age woman (Mrs. Jumoke Zaid) after killing
her Son.
According to the Deponent in the Court Affidavit in Support of Motion on
Notice in Suit No:ID/1525mb /2017, which was signed on 12th Day of
September, 2017 stated that, a victim, Late Sharkoor Zaid who was
self-employed cobbler that was well known within Ijora-Badia community and
its environs,who was illegally arrested on 16th day of April, 2015 at
No;32, Afolabi Alasia, Ijora-Badia Lagos.
“And his Mother,Mrs. Jumoke Zaid is a trader of No:67,Osogbo Street, Itire
Ijesha Lagos.
Mean while, Adetiba Sunday who works as a Contractor along side with others
in Phonex steel company located at ogijo town in Ogun State before Adetiba
was illegally arrested and shot in the leg by the blood shocker Inspector
Ogedengbe, if not divine intervention with activities of the CHRSJ and
Barrister Onafadeji and Barrister (Mrs.) Ireti , who agitated for immediate
release of Adetiba Sunday, before he was granted bail at Sagamu Magistrate
Court on July 10th, Adetiba would have died in Ogedengbe’s Cell at Magbon.
Reacting on the development, CHRSJ through its seriously Executive
Chairman,Comrade Adeniyi, Alimi Sulaiman advocated  for unbiased justice in
the incoming report of the National Human Rights Commission Panel.
He pressured for capital punishment either by hanging,firing Squad or life
imprisonment against Inspector Godwin Ogedengbe for using his uniform to
commit murder by  making jungle justice on innocent citizens without
following rule of Law and due Process.
Supporting its claim,CHRSJ makes reference to the Criminal Procedure Act in
the Case of Udo Ndo v. Queen 15 police officers, who shot and Killed an
unarmed escaping Prisoner,were convicted of murder for using excessive
force.
” In addition, the Criminal Code CAP “C38″of the Law of Federation in  Case
of Igbo v. State, Alia Agu v. State and R. V. Okon.
” Justice Niki Tobi (JSC) as then was, made a pronouncement in the case of
one Late Solomon Omopariola against Police Officer in Efon-Amuro Police
Station, Kogi State, that “appellant had no right to arrest, detain or
torture late Solomon Omopariola,not to talk of Shoot him to death, there is
an evidence that the appellant was drunk at the time he arrested and
detained the innocent Citizen.
This is very serious and Inspector General of Police(IGP) should do
something about it, like my learned brother, the Police are employed to
protect the Person not to violate the Citizens Law. “Justice Niki Tobi on

Sulaiman who quoted that anyone who Pelts another with Pebble ask for the
rock in return, saying if this dastardly act of Ogedengbe persists, it may
spell an imminent danger in the country, adding that in the Holy Quran in
Surathul-Nizhai Ch4 vs 92-93 and Biblical Quotation of Genesis 9vs6.
This will serve as a deterrent to  other lawless uniform men and women,
who have the same idiosyncratic tendency in his or her mind to Kill fellow
human being and if given the opportunity to rise to the higher rank,he or
she may become a serious threat to the society, all we want in this Country
is a refined, resourceful and discipline Law Enforcement Agencies.” he
