How Nigerians Humble Senator Ishaku Abbo Over Assault On Shop Attendant

It breeds army of aware and awake citizen, thereby instilling the spirit of citizen journalism into the consciousness of the mass society. From the very moment it was busted by Premium Times to the point where the Commissioner of Police, FCT, CP Bala Ciroma contacted the victim and arrested the assaulter, Senator Ishaku Abbo who was visibly seen as recorded through a CCTV, assaulting a sex toy seller in her Abuja shop, Nigerians and perhaps the global village has not missed an atom of stages in the event that forced “I’m sorry” out of the mouth of a distinguished Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to a mare shop attendant. What a rare phenomenon!

The Nigerian populace is undeniably being mobilized for such mass action through the aide of the New Media otherwise called the social media. The New Media seems to have given voices to the ordinary man on the street. Weather the conventional media is key into the new spirit is a subject for another day but it appears Senator Abbo may not get away with his regretted action as it has received mass condemnations from Nigerians.

Not only that his party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and the Senate commenced investigation into the conduct of the senator representing Adamawa North, Senator Ishaku Abbo has swiftly issued a press statement apologizing over his conduct. In a statement he personally signed, the senator in a humble manner admitted guilt, promising Nigerians and his constituency not to repeat such again.

According to his statement,“It is with a deep sense of remorse and responsibility that I, Senator Ishaku Abbo (SIA) profoundly apologize to all Nigerians, the Senate, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), my family, friends as well as our mothers – the Nigerian women”.
“I personally apologize to Bibra and her family for my action towards her, which has brought immense discomfort in our body polity”.

The Senator further stated that he has never been known or associated with such actions in the past. He mentioned that Regardless of what transpired prior to his expression of anger, that he is sincerely sorry and plead that all men and women of good conscience would have the heart to forgive him, stressing that “to err is human, to forgive is divine”.
He stated further that “Indeed, this episode has taught me a very great lesson both as a private citizen and a public officer, particularly as a senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria upon whom public confidence is bestowed”.
Meanwhile, The IGP, M.A Adamu while assuring the citizens of utmost professionalism by the Police in the handling of the matter, promised that the Force will ensure that justice is manifestly done in this case irrespective of whose ox is gored.
