SanwoOlu’s Aide, Afonja, 3 Others Bag Badagry Integrity Award 2020
Few distinguished individuals whose contributions to youth agenda and community development has taken them to the next level of their career in life would be honored next Tuesday at the BADAGRY INTERGRITYAWARDS 2020.
Leading the awardees is MR. AKANBI ADE SAHEED – popularly known as “Afonja” has been . He was recently appointed as the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Lagos State on Youth. Akanbi is a youth Development advocate, a politician and an entrepreneur. He is the founder of Asiwaju Grassroots Foundation and the foremost Bola Tinubu Ambassadors. Akanbi is the Convener of the annual Bola Tinubu Youth Summit, a National Youth gathering that brings young people from across the 36 States together under one roof to discuss leadership, governance and National Development in honour of the birth anniversary of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Akanbi is the Publisher of Eko e-report magazine. He was the Convener of Badagry Division Progressive Summit in 2014. Convener of Badagry Division Youth Stakeholders Summit in 2015. Until his appointment as the SSA on Youth Development to Gov. Sanwoolu, he was the Special Assistant on Media to the ALGON National President.
Next is a young front line politician, HON YAHAYA LATEEF popularly known as WAY. This young man for the first time in the history box Badagry stood up to change the narrative by contesting for the post of Lagos State House Of Assembly and shook the ground with the unlimited support he enjoyed from his thousands of fans. Yahaya was born 40 years ago in Ahovikoh Quarters of Badagry, yahaya received both elementary and secondary education here Badagry. He Got admission to study Economics at the revered Lagos State University (LASU), Bagged Masters in Financial Management (LASU), Member, Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria. As a one time Student Unionist, record have it that Yahaya (WAY) attempted and contested LASUSUG Welfare & Financial Directors, alongside Dunga and Hon. Dahunsi, who is currenlty a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Epe constituency 2 in the house. Engaged by Lagos State Government through its revenue operational arm Lagos State Internal Revenue Service. Yahaya is a committed member of the Progressives through AD to APC. He is presently the CHIEF OF STAFF, BADAGRY LOCAL GOVERNMENT.
DR. KOSHOEDO SEJLO is another promising young Badagrian that has through his hard work reached out to several communities. Although he lives in the diaspora, he has proven to be compassionate, caring and most supportive to Badagry his home. Dr. Koshoedo is one of the responsive Badagryians that doles out palliative during the Covid-19 Pandemic.
DAMILOLA SONAYON JAMES hails from Kweme in Badagry, she is a multidiscipline professional, with expertise in Human Resources Management, Transport Management and Logistics. She is an astute Tax Officer, and a leading Project Management Consultant with experience in technical governance, capacity building, youth empowerment and humanitarian services.
Damilola derives happiness in helping the less privileged by rendering humanitarian services through her Non-Governmental Organization- BSJ Foundation. The organization focuses on the development of sustainable development goals targeted towards the youths and women of Badagry communities through the provision of clean and accessible water, community sanitation and quality education. She is currently the Managing Director of DGS Consulting, a Training and Business Consulting firm with keen interest in Transport Management and Logistics. The Business provides recruitment, training and on-boarding services for companies like BOLT (formerly Taxify), Simply Green, Regus Nigeria, etc. Damilola is a member of the Think-Tank Advisory committee of the Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development.
Damilola loves to impart knowledge and this passion birthed her public speaking and voluntary community engagement projects. She recently partnered with Mind-the-Gap on a project called the Mindshift Learning program which was designed to train 50,000 Nigerian youths on digital tools and building lasting and sustainable businesses as entrepreneurs.
She worked with the Lagos Internal Revenue Service for six years before she started DGS Consulting. Damilola has a SAP ERP (end-user management) certificate from the ESAP-ACADEMY, Bangalore, India. She holds a Bachelor degree in Business Management with Human Resources Management from University of Hull, United Kingdom and a Master degree in Social Work (Community option) from Ladoke Akintola University (LAUTECH), Ogbomosho, Oyo State.
She is currently working on her first book: “How to Become a Value-adding Employee”. Recently during the heat of the CoVid-19, Damilola constructed ans donated a borehole water system with generator set to at Gbethrome, with partnership with other NGOs towards reaching out to the needy. She is but a passionate individual with concern for her community.
