Ekiti: Arrested Suspects ‘ll Go To Court; The state CP. Tunde Mobayo, urges good people of the state to be security conscious, vigilant and report any adverse incident or happening observed in their locality to the nearest Police Station or call the Police Control Room on 08062335577’

By Wale Abydeen// The Ekiti State Police Command’s fight against crimes and criminalities in the State under the watch and leadership of CP. TUNDE MOBAYO  has clamped down on  various suspects in connection with different heinous crimes.

Some of these crimes under further scrutiny are stated as follows:

(i). *ARREST OF ROBBERY AND MURDER SUSPECTS:* On 24/11/2020 at about 1100hrs, upon a reliable information, the Command Operatives arrested one Ayo Lawal a.k.a A.Y and Jimoh Ojo for murdering one Issac, an Okada rider and burying his corpse. It was gathered that the deceased conveyed Ayo Lawal a.k.a. A.Y from Ikole-Ekiti township to his farm in Odooro-Ekiti. On getting to the farm, Ayo Lawal conspired with Jimoh Ojo, Wonder and Abdullahi who are now at large and dispossessed the victim, Isaac, of his Bajaj Boxer Motorcycle. After succeeding in robbing the victim of his Motorcycle, they strangled him to death and buried his corpse in a shallow grave inside the farm of Ayo Lawal a.k.a. A.Y. During interrogation, the two suspects arrested made confessional statements to the commission of the crime and further claimed that the victim’s Motorcycle had been taken to kogi State by Abdullahi. The two (2) suspects are with the Command’s Operatives undergoing further interrogation that could lead to the arrest of the fleeing suspects.

(ii). CASE OF KIDNAPPING:* On 26/11/2020 at about 1200hrs, one Yakubu Aliyu was arrested in a forest at Ilemosho-Ekiti by the Command Operatives. During interrogation, the suspect confessed to be a member of a kidnapping syndicate who kidnapped the Commissioner for Agriculture and two (2) other victims within Oye Local Government Area of Ekiti State and its environs. Other gang members mentioned by the suspect are Sani, Gide, Danja, Bello, Sidi, Babi, Ali, Wada, and Boderi a.k.a Yellow. However, on 30/11/2020, one of the indicted suspects, one Sidi was arrested inside the forest along Ilemeso-Ekiti by the Command Operatives. Meanwhile, the two (2) members of the syndicate, Bello Mohammed a.k.a. Wada, had earlier been arrested on 02/11/2020 in connection with a kidnapping case, arraigned in court and presently remanded at Federal Correctional Centre, Ado-Ekiti while their trial is ongoing.

(iii). CASE OF KIDNAPPING:* On 09/11/2020 at about 1330hrs, upon tip off, our Operatives arrested three (3) suspected kidnappers inside Ikere/Igbara Odo-Ekiti forest. During interrogation, the suspects, Sabiu Yusuf, Barga Mohammadu and Bello Abubakar, gave contradicting statements and could not give satisfactory account of their presence in the forest as they were not cattle rearers. Exhibits recovered were two (2) Bajaj Motorcycles, Maggi, Salt, Red Oil and criminal charms, believing they were going to deliver to their other members in the bush.

 Abutu Sunday, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, ASP and spokesman of the command who paraded the suspected criminals stated that   “as soon as investigations are concluded, all the suspects arrested shall be charged to the court of law for prosecution.
