DEFILEMENT OF MINOR: Widow Seeks Justice, Petitions SanwoOlu, Wife, Speaker, NHRC, Others, Alleged Manipulations by Govt. Officials
A Lagos resident, Mrs. Elizabeth Iluyomade, a widow and has cried out to the Governor of State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his wife, over a threat to her life because of her call for justice over the death of (Modupe Olomo), her daughter and the alleged defilement of the children the deceased left behind.
In her petition to the governor and the wife, dated 16th November, 2020, Iluyomade recalled that the governor had, during the “Walk to Commit and Act”, commemorating the day in line with United Nations declaration against gender-based violence, promised to wield “the big stick” on perpetrators of rape, domestic violence and child abuse in Lagos state.
Iluyomade contended that the children (Fiyinfoluwa 5 and Folakemi 2) had to reside with her after the death of their mother on June 3rd to stave off the post death emotional trauma.
“This request led to a serious argument until I eventual called Seun Olomo, my son-in-law who later prevailed on his mother to allow the children to stay behind. All these drama and arguments initially raised my antenna of suspicion that there is more than meet the eyes on the death of my daughter.”
“Meanwhile, after few days of staying with me, I started noticing a strange bowel movement and behavior patterns of the children and decided to carry out medical examination on July 5th 2019 at the General Hospital Isolo.
She said she later approached the Lagos State Office of Public Defender, OPD, concerning what she discovered about the children, from where she was referred to the Mirabel Center at the Lagos State College of Medicine, LASUTH, Ikeja.
Several tests (copies of result attached to the petition) conducted at Mirabel Center later revealed that the two-year old Folakemi had been penetrated severally and serially from her vagina and anus. It was also discovered also that the five year old boy Fiyinfoluwa had been penetrated through his anus.
Armed with the medical report and the video evidence where the boy confessed that the act was done by their father, she said the OPD referred the matter to the Gender Unit of the Lagos State Police Command since according to them, “the matter has morphed into a criminal offence in which Seun Olomo, the father of the children is a prime suspect.”
Iluyomade lamented that the case was subjected to a lot of manipulation at the Gender Unit which eventually gave the custody of the children to the father. Presently, Iluyomade added that the father, Seun Olomo has relocated from his last known address at Egbeda Lagos to an unknown location with the children.
“Sir, I also wish to inform you that the threat to my life has continued and pray that you kindly use your great office to step into this case to save the soul of a poor widow and save my grandchildren from trauma,” she pleaded with the governor.
Calls made to Gbenga Omotoso, the Commissioner for Information and Gbeoyega Akosile the Chief Press Secretary, for reactions were not picked and the text messages sent after also got no reply.
