Education Minister Nwajiuba Vows To Work for the Unity of Nigeria, Pledges Support for Northern Youths

The Honourable Minister of State, Ministry of Education, Mr Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba has reitrates his commitment to work for the Unity of the country, Nigeria. He added that nationhood evolves through process and dialogue, noted that no nation gets it right via violence.


Nwajiuba made the statement during the courtesy visit to his office on Tuesday by Arewa Consultative Youth Forum (ACYF) led by Malam Yusuf Olayinka Erubu, in Abuja.

The minister use the medium to appealed to the youth in the South east to use the dialogue options to push for their demands if their is any one at all. Adding that youth should not made themselves available for use to destroy unity and peaceful coexistence Nigerians have been enjoying for a very long time.


Earlier in his remarks, the President of the ACYF, Malam Erubu told the minister reasons for the courtesy visit, he said, “owing to the growing trend of security challenges across the nation, ACYF is organising a Youth Summit by July in Lokoja in Kogi state caputal where youths from the 19 northern States would be converging to brainstorm on the possible way to stem the tide of insecurity in Nigeria, particularly, the northern Nigeria.

Erubu also used the visit to request the support of the Federal ministry of Education through the State Minister to actualise the Summit.

Nwajiuba had earlier promised to support the Nigerian youth to achieve success in their forthcoming Summit billed to take place in Lokoja, the minister thereby directed the group to liase with his Special Adviser, Political on the possible way the ministry can be involved.

Erubu who described the honourable minister as a cosmopolitan and detribalised person said his intervention in appealing to the youth in the eastern part of the country would go along way in addressing the crisis rocking the nation.

Erubu maintained that the bulk of the crisis rocking the country are being caused by the youth, he however allayed fear being nursed by Igbo people who chosen northern part of the country as their place of residents and doing their lawful bussinesses to be rest assured that nothing would happen to them as long as they remain law abiding citizen of their host communities and states irrespective of where they come from. He added that, “We are all Nigerian and there is no other place we can call our country order than Nigeria.”

Appreciating the countribution of the Honourable minister for his meaningful contribution to the education sector and Nigeria polity in general, a specially designed Shirt and a qoute of Arm labelled-spread was presented to the honourable minister alongside other youth representative from ten states of the north.

Among the youths who came on th visit are Malam Abdulkadir Imam from Kogi, Mariam Sanni from Kaduna, Atunrase collins from Lagos, Tegrey Adovor from Benue.

Others are Aminu Abdullahi from Nasarawa and Suleiman Ibraheem Kwara state.
