The officer who was an Assistant Superintendent ASP, of Police serving in Lagos State Police Command, lost his life during a violent confrontation with the commercial motorcyclists known as okada riders in Agege area of Lagos.

According to reports, the officer was leading a team of policemen to the scene of an accident at WEMCO Junction, near Mobil Road, Agege.

The incident involved a fatal collision between an Okada rider and a trailer.

When the police arrived to clear the accident site, they were met with hostility from a large group of Okada riders, who demanded that the trailer involved in the accident be set on fire.

The Lagos State Police Command’s spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident, describing it as a brutal and unprovoked attack.

Benjamin explained that the police team had responded to a distress call around 1:40 a.m. regarding the accident.

He died on the spot, while the driver of the trailer managed to flee the area.

Hundeyin revealed that five suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident, and a manhunt is underway for additional culprits.
