POLICE ARREST MAN FOR ALLEGEDLY POSSESSING GUN WITHOUT LICENSE

Lilongwe – A 39-year-old man, Evance Chataika, has been arrested by police in Lilongwe for allegedly possessing a gun without a license.

According to Deputy Public Relations Officer for Lilongwe Police, Khumbo Sanyiwa, Chataika was arrested after a tip-off from the community.

“The police received information that Chataika was in possession of a firearm, and when we searched his house in Area 50, we found the gun, but he had no license to possess it,” said Sanyiwa.

Chataika, who hails from Nangumi Village in Thyolo, has denied the charges, claiming that the gun was planted on him.

The suspect works as a guard at the Agricultural Research and Extension Trust in Lilongwe.

The police are currently investigating the matter, and Chataika is expected to appear in court soon.
