The extension of Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje’s tenure as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Africa’s largest political party, comes as no surprise to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other members of the National Working Committee (NWC).

Ganduje’s leadership is anchored in hard work and expertise, qualities that have defined his political career. Under his chairmanship, the APC has secured significant victories in governorship and other elections across multiple states, further solidifying its dominance.

By 2026, when he is set to leave office, Ganduje’s contributions to the party and the nation at large will be evident across the country. His leadership extends beyond party affairs, as he has leveraged the APC platform to drive national development initiatives.

One of his key visions is the establishment of skills acquisition centers across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones to empower the youth. This initiative was highlighted during the Progressive Institute’s Youth Conference in Abuja at the end of 2024.

Furthermore, Ganduje’s commitment to national development was evident during his tenure as Kano State Governor. He played a pivotal role in forming a committee tasked with harnessing the economic potential of Fulani pastoralists. Chaired by former INEC Chairman Prof. Attahiru Jega and comprising members from across the country, the committee’s recommendations laid the foundation for the creation of the Ministry of Livestock Development by President Bola Tinubu.

Additionally, in his efforts to modernize livestock farming and integrate pastoralists into the national economy, Ganduje facilitated the training of 60 herdsmen in artificial insemination of cattle during his tenure as Kano Governor. This initiative aimed to enhance livestock productivity and restore the Fulani pastoralists’ historical contributions to agriculture and economic development.

As Ganduje’s tenure progresses, expectations are high for more policy wins and strategic initiatives that will further strengthen the APC and drive national progress. His leadership continues to shape the party’s trajectory while implementing impactful policies that benefit Nigerians across various sectors.
