What Places Yahaya Bello of Kogi State Ahead of other Governors =Finance Commissioner Ashiru

Kogi State Commissioner For Finance, Ashiwaju Ashiru Idris recently bears his mind on the recent development in the state especially on workers remuneration, thereby scoring the governor higher than other state governors in the country
SECURITY MONITOR gathers that Governor Yahaya Bello directed relevant authorities in the State to pay outstanding salaries of civil servants and pension arrears up till December this year.
The measures has placed Governor Bello ahead of his counterparts in the country especially in the payment of workers’ salaries.
It is a known fact that the present administration inherited four months salaries from the previous administration. A situation Governor Yahaya Bello described as worrisome and could not be condoned when he assumed office.
That is why upon assumption of office the Governor put in place the screening committee to settle the issue of ghost workers syndrome once and for all in the state.
Although some absurd developments in the screening exercise were not envisaged by the state government, the government has refused to be detarred  by the antics of those who saw the screening as a slap on their faces.
For instance, when the exercise was almost becoming a success, some unpatriotic persons distorted the data base of the screening which made the Governor to set up the validation committee.
It is an agreed fact that task before the validation committee is to look into the report of the first  screening exercise which required time for them to correct all the distortion in the earlier exercise.
Happily with the development on Thursday whereby some workers have started receiving their salaries and arrears, the government has once again proved that the screening exercise was not a farce as some doubting Thomas’s may think.
True to his word, Governor Yahaya Bello has fulfilled his promise of ensuring that no genuine workers will be sacked and that their salaries would be paid as at when due.
With the recent payment of salaries of some civil servants and pension up to December, means that the State government does not owe genuine workers any salary
It is a truism that Governor Bello who was once s civil servant truly knows the pains of those who are on the problem list of the screening committee.
According to the Finance Commissioner, “as the youngest and vibrant Governor in the country, Governor Bello is ready to bequeath a leadership quality in the system that will be a legacy for generations yet unborn.
That is why he his taking his time to succinctly ensure that the screening exercise is completed to pave way for proper attention to the welfare of the State workers.”
“It is a common knowledge that the havoc done to the State by those who hid under the ghost workers syndrome to siphon the resources of the State is enormous.”
Ashiwaju Ashiru noted that situation where by a larger portion of the state funds were corruptly stolen by some civil servants and their cronies is not good enough for the development of the State.
If the state must develop rapidly, then transparency, probity and accountability must be entrenched in the polity of the state bearing in mind that the ravaging looting of the treasuries by the previous administration will lead the State to comatose.
On the part of the government, Governor Yahaya Bello has sworn to protect the rights of the people particularly the civil servants.

The Governor has demonstrated his milk of kindness for the people in several ways  within his one year in office. He has touched every aspect of human endeavors bringing to bare his enthusiasm and passion to creates a positive change amidst the pains and strains of governance. All abandoned roads from the tree senatorial districts have been touched including Lokoja road. A trip to the State Secretariat, House of Assembly, Ministry of Works, Health and other Agencies and Parastatals will reveal the sparkling effect of the Midas touch of the present administration.
He has he recently approved money running to millions of naira for the treatment of indigent citizens who are having one ailment  of the other. The Security Agencies have been assisted in several ways to curb crime and criminality. All these attest to the fact that we having an humane governor who will leave no stone unturned to protect lives and property of the good people of Kogi State.
As the cleared civil servants have been paid their salaries up to date, what is required of workers is total support for the present administration to enable it implement its NEW DIRECTION POLICY.
