Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, has decided not to pursue his aspiration to become governor in the upcoming governorship election set for August 7th, 2026.

During a meeting held at the Tinubu/Shettima Campaign office, Oyetola, who co-led the session alongside APC Chairman Tajudeen Lawal and Chairman of the Elders’ Caucus, Chief Sola Akinwumi, emphasized that bringing the APC back to power in Osun by 2026 is a non-negotiable goal.

Speaking to party leaders, Oyetola announced that he has decided to step back from his pursuit of the governorship and extended his best wishes to the APC candidates participating in the primary elections.

He said, “We have qualified, competent and people of outstanding track records as aspirants contesting for the governorship election and this is a unique selling proposition to feast on and we will continue to complement the federal government’s efforts on all fronts.”

Oyetola urged the candidates running for governor to prioritize harmony and support one another by steering clear of negative campaigning, hostility, and divisive politics.

He promised that every legitimate effort would be made to bring the APC back to power, emphasizing that the party is strong, dynamic, and capable of removing Governor Ademola Adeleke from office.
