A veteran politician, who is an APC big wig, Alhaji Shuaib Afolabi Oyedokun, has asserted that Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State will not win re-election next year.

Gubernatorial election will hold in the State of the Living Spring on August 8, 2026, and there are clear signs that Governor Adeleke would be seeking re-election.

Alhaji Shuaib Afolabi Oyedokun, a nonagenarian, however asserted on Tuesday that the governor will lose re-election next year because the people of the state are seeking a new leadership.

A statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com noted that the elder statesman said this during the visit of Omooba Dotun Babayemi to his Inisa residence on Monday.

While in Olunisa Ward 10, Prince Dotun Babayemi, a leading Osun State APC gubernatorial aspirant, who was in the ancient town in continuation of his statewide ward-to-ward tour, had earlier visited another APC stalwart , Akinrogun Poju Odusola (aka Comrade).

‘In the upcoming 2026 gubernatorial election, I am convinced and optimistic that our great party, the APC, will defeat Governor Ademola Adeleke’ the statement quoted the Oluomo of Inisa, Chief Shuaib Afolabi Oyedokun as saying

Commending Babayemi for the mature way he has handled things and marketed his candidacy across the state, Chief Oyedokun urged him not to deviate from this while noting that it is particularly gratifying to see all the aspirants show readiness to work together for the collective interest and victory of the APC in the upcoming elections.

‘Listening to the vision each of our aspirants has for Osun State, it gladdens my heart that it is a good pointer to the victory awaiting our great party at the polls, especially with the calibre of aspirants jostling for the Osun State APC gubernatorial nomination’ he said.

While calling for strong unity among the aspirants and members of the party across the state, he noted that ‘the party’s common goal towards ushering in good governance to the people of Osun State is very paramount’.

Earlier, the Chairman of APC in Odo-Otin local government, Hon. Jimoh Aasa commended Babayemi for his scientific approach to party mobilization and philanthropic activities, noting that his decision to join the guber race has meaningfully impacted the party

Calling Babayemi ‘incoming governor’, the LG party official noted that the guber hopeful has laid a solid foundation in respect of how a party should be run, adding that the template of the Gbongan-born prince is what is being copied by other governorship aspirants in the state.

Responding, Omooba Dotun Babayemi whose presence had attracted hundreds of party supporters to Chief Oyedokun’s residence, described the highly experienced politician as a political sage from who he has continued to tap from his wealth of wisdom and experience.

He noted that APC looks up to the elder statesman for guidance in deepening internal democracy and ensuring victory for the party, especially in the 2026 Osun State governorship election and the 2027 presidential election
