The leading House of Representatives hopeful for Saki West, Saki East, and ATISBO Federal Constituency, Hon. Ismail Adewoyin, today met with the Director General of the Progressive Institute, Dr. Lanre Adebayo, and the Institute’s Head of Media, Mr. Olawale Abideen, at their Area 7 office in Abuja.
The meeting, which began as an introduction of his candidacy for the 2027 old Ifedapo Federal Constituency, expanded into discussions on key national issues. Hon. Adewoyin commended the National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Ghoswen Yilwatda, for his forthright leadership, noting the significant increase in defections of governors and legislators from other parties to the APC. He described this development as a major boost to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and his 2027 re-election prospects.
He also highlighted ongoing reconciliation efforts at the state level, led by the Oyo State Chairman, Chief Moses Alake Adeyemo, aimed at returning the state to the progressive fold.
During the discussion, Hon. Adewoyin drew attention to the growing neglect of environmental concerns, particularly green infrastructure. He emphasized that insufficient attention to forest management has led to increased deforestation, rapid urbanisation, and the displacement of local communities. According to him, these challenges have contributed to rising insecurity, including banditry, terrorism, and kidnapping.
He therefore called on the Federal Government to establish a Ministry of Green Infrastructure to oversee and protect the nation’s environmental resources.
In his response, Dr. Lanre Adebayo thanked Hon. Adewoyin for the visit and his thoughtful contributions, noting that his insights could stimulate further research and inform policy development on green infrastructure. He also commended Adewoyin as a politician and academic, expressing confidence in his capacity to effectively represent his constituency.
